https://imgur.com/45DtRd1I got this in a box of automobile emblems and this is the only one I can’t seem to identify. The others were a wide range of years and mainly domestic vehicles with a few from Great Britain. This one has me stumped. I’ve spent well over an hour trying to find another online without any luck.
Measures 3 3/4″ across by 2 3/4″ tall (at widest/tallest). There are two mounting pins on the back that are 3 1/4″ apart. There is no part number, name or any other type of manufacturer’s markings on the front, back or edges. It is made of metal and looks to have been stamped out (i.e. mass produced like most other typical car metal emblems).
Thanks for any help anyone can provide on this.
Best regards,

I’m stumped. Maybe Steven Schultz or Old Dad will know. Or you could email Hubcap Joe, Crazeenydriver on Youtube, at crazeenydriver@aol.com. Although he specializes in wheel covers he may know.

Might be a British Ford Emblem, they used GL as a model or trim designator.

May also be GOL which is a Volkswagen that was built in Brazil

I don’t recall ever seeing anything like that. Many car companies and brands have a GL model (if that is what the GL stands for), put emblem is fancier than most emblems. Could even be a dealer badge, it used to be common for them to attach a badge using drilled holes.

Always A Trade Off U.K.
Participant- Location: The U.K. the land of the car boot sale.
@always-a-trade-off-u-kHi From UK I dont think its a British Ford badge (I was always told GL stood for Gran Luxe).

Well, I feel better that I wasn’t missing something obvious. It’s got that late ’70’s / early ’80’s feel to it to me. I was starting to wonder if maybe it was from an alternative form of transportation like a vintage camper or golf cart or some such. Only other thought I had was that it may be from a company that did custom conversions for vans back in the day.
Thanks to everyone who responded and if anyone has any other ideas, please let me know.

Have you tried browsing eBay Collectibles > Transportation > Automobilia > Badges
Automobilia? A new word for me.

It kinda looks like something from Toyota (late 80s maybe), maybe from the trunk lid of a Japanese model.

I think I may be on the right track (or just getting lost down in another rabbit hole). Vintage Datsuns had very similar symbols for their 510 1600GL / 1800GL Bluebird series. No exact matches yet but found some very similar GL emblems.
I will definitely post if I can get a final answer or an exact match. This is just one of those little things that’s driving me crazier (the big things drove me insane years ago).
Thanks,
JohnBoy
