Yes I know I could lose this lot with someone else swooping in. But I am seeing this lot Friday morning at 8am. Something just doesn’t feel right. I spoke to the guy and he buys out large collections or stores, takes what he wants and sells the rest. Yes I have the cash but it still is a risk. Why in 25 days has this not sold?! These are from both the same seller. He said he would take $6500 for both. If the pictures are correct there are thousands of items. What do you think? Maybe he is showing the good stuff and not the crap? I know a decent amount about vintage toys – but I figured with all that stuff. – He said I would need the smallest Uhaul box truck to pick it up. it won’t all fit in a pick up with a cab. (which I have)

A lot of work but a lot of profit potential. Where should I start for pricing in negotiation? What else should I be looking for or asking? Thank you so much for the help!

Definitely alot of cool stuff.
It’s still sitting because $6500 is way too much.To be honest, paying $2-3k would be very generous.

Agree with Retro. While that is a really good haul of stuff, is it worth $6,500? While some of those board games are good, a lot of them don’t go for much on Ebay. I also can’t tell if that much is hiding underneath the table/to the side, or if that’s it.
Oh, I see the additional items now. Can’t really tell what’s in that mess. I do see some McDonald’s toys, meh. For $6,500, I’d want to poke in every box and crevice to see what’s there before deciding.

Personally I’d run away from this, for several reasons:
1. A lot of stuff means a lot of work to sell it all and a lot of space occupied. That’s fine if the potential profit justifies the work and space, but it doesn’t look like that to me.
2. Opportunity cost. $6500 can buy many more items that have higher profit margins than this lot.
3. I try to never buy something from someone that knows more than me. This guy seems like he knows that he’s doing.

It is some good stuff, but I don’t see it being worth over $1000 unless I am missing something here.

From the photos, a lot of the items look in pretty bad shape. Lots of used, open boxes. The condition of collectible toys and board games goes way down if they’re new or used.
Throw out a low number if you’re really interested. As others have said, just looks like a whole lot of work. No fast money there.

I’ve been wanting that Big Foot board game forever. Looks like the price has come down from what it once was. Sometimes board games can do well even with missing pieces, but there aren’t any that look THAT good in this lot. Mall Madness does well with all its pieces. Chutes away looks good, if it has all its pieces. Weapons & Warriors, other games like that are good. Samurai Swords is just a clone of Shogun, which is actually very valuable and I have a complete copy of in my collection. There’s some good stuff in this lot, it’s just already priced at retail.

UPDATE: I offered $3,250 then $4,000 and was turned down. Not even a counter offer. There was a lot of valuable toys but most of the stuff wasn’t in the best shape. There was at least ten things in there that sell on eBay on a regular basis for $200+
Oh well, on to the next hunt. Thanks for all the help everyone! -

I know this is a passed deal, but a quick note about vintage toys: I see vintage toys all the time at the flea market. Many of them I immediately assume have some value. Then I look them up and find that there is a glut of the same item already on eBay (often more complete and in better condition) for as much as or less than the flea market vendor is asking. So don’t assume that vintage toys are necessarily valuable or worth tying up money in.
Same thing with more contemporary toys, such as action figures and Star Wars / Star Trek merchandise. They’d better be cheaper than dirt or do your research before buying.
