I know everything might not be perfect when it actually gets here, but from what I’m hearing from the second day of Ebay Open (I’m not there, just listening to people who are there, in particular Pure Hustle Podcast) there’s some potential. I’m mostly excited about:
1. With managed payments, payment should be immediate when you accept best offers. Hopefully no more non paid bidder cases (eventually.)
2. You’ll be able to cut out backgrounds in photo like a professional photo app. Some already do this on a separate app, but I’ve never bothered to take that much time. If it were integrated on the ebay site or app, I’d absolutely do it.
3. Ebay FBA is not something I’ll necessarily do, but I think it’ll be fun to see how it will actually work and if people like it or not.
Anybody else having fun listening to Youtubers talk about Open?

1 & 2 sound great! I’d welcome those changes. I’m just about to close an unpaid best offer case. I still don’t understand why people go to the trouble of making an offer and then don’t pay for the item. I guess it’s because they know they can do so without any consequences?

Vintage Treasures mentioned people making offers but not paying. Ugh.. I’m soooooo sick of this. I currently have 2 unpaid item cases open because of people who’ve made offers – which I’ve accepted – but then wouldn’t pay. I try to get them to tell me why they’d make an offer for something when they have no intention to pay. All I get are crickets.

Simon linked to what I came here to post. But what he didn’t mention is something I know Jay and Ryanne are going to love!
According to Joe, eBay is going to start allowing you to have separate access for employees, meaning no more having to give your workers or virtual assistants access to your entire eBay account.

Vintage Treasures, While I think different buyers have different reasons for not paying on accepted offers, I do think in SOME cases it is because they’ve made offers to multiple sellers, and choose the one they prefer from those who accept the offer (so shipping price, return policy etc might come into play when they make the choice)
I saw somewhere, can’t vouch for this though, that one of the things in the works is: with Managed Payments, if a buyer accepts a sellers offer, it will trigger immediate payment. Just have to wait and see on that.

Does anyone here use Managed payments yet? I know some sellers have opted in.

@The Thrift Raider – thanks for the list. #2 sounds like it would be helpful for me. I spend a lot of time dropping backgrounds from my photos.

The upsides of using managed payments were so minor I’m surprised that anyone opted into that. I haven’t heard that they have enabled GSP yet (and I still don’t understand the connection) and I don’t recall whether PayPal has been added as a payment option. For those 2 reasons I don’t use it.

Simon, Yes, PayPal is one of the available methods now. I don’t use MPs, but that was rolled out a little while ago. Not sure about Global Shipping, I don’t think they have that yet.

According to Joe at the Crazy NY Driver YouTube channel here are some other things coming soon:
– multi-user eBay accounts are now available – this should be helpful for Ryanne and Jay with their photo-taking helper. You can now delegate restricted access to that person.
– partial refunds for false INADs (and items return damaged) even without offering free shipping – starting Oct. 1st-

Yeah, it’ll be exciting to see how they execute on that feature of giving limited access to helpers.
