I just had 12 vintage hats removed for Vero. They were all Ford hats , mostly from the 80s. Some were dealership hats, some were tractor hats, some were just logo hats. They removed some that were even K Brand and K products which makes no sense.
I have over 25 more Ford Hats left for sale that were not removed. These are pretty similar but for some reason weren’t flagged. I really have no idea why these were flagged. I’ve sold literally thousands of hats and these are my bread and butter items.
A few questions
1) Can I relist them without the Ford name in the listing? Is it worth the risk?
2) How can I find the original listings? I need to pull them from inventory but not sure where they are bc I can’t see the listing to see where it is.
3) Should I pull the other listings? That seems extreme but concerned about running up too many of these.

1) We wouldn’t relist any more Ford hats. The VERO claim should tell you what company make the claim. Was it the Ford Motor Company?
2) When an item is pulled for a VERO, the original listing disappears. You can use Google to find the old listings if you need to. Do it soon before Google re-indexes.
3) We would also take down the other Ford hats. VERO violations, no matter how arbitrary, are very serious. eBay will suspend your store if you get too many in a short time period.

It says that it came from Ford company. I just tried to send them an email via the link they sent but it bounced back and said it was not a valid address.
what i don’t get is that there are tons and tons of these type hats for sale on ebay. I can’t figure out why these were targeted.
Taking all 25 of the other ones down seems painful. I know you are probably right but that’s a lot of money for sale.
when google pulls it up, I can’t see the bottom of the description where i store the locations. when i go to the link, it says that it’s not available.

Certain companies are known for their active VERO accounts on eBay, but I have never heard of Ford being one of them. I’m especially surprised at something vintage; although, Ford’s logo design hasn’t changed for 50 years or more.
I’ve heard that some companies use summer interns to search through the web and take down listing using their trademarks. I suggest you follow Jay’s recommendations, wait for the end of summer, and then relist them on Etsy or some other online site.

does anyone know how many VERO a store can have before getting flagged? They pulled 12 items but it was in 2 emails. I have a little over 1600 items in the store and last one I got was over a year ago.

No one knows what it takes to be suspended on eBay because of VERO claims. This is why many of us are very wary of playing any games with the system.
It is very arbitrary. Why did your Ford hats get removed while there are probably thousands of others listed? No one knows.
If you have 1600 items in your inventory, it’s not worth trying to sell those 25 hats and possibly get suspended. You may not get anymore VERO claims, but you also might.

Thanks for the tip. I passed on a Ford / Ford dealer hat at the thrift store over the weekend. I don’t need any VERO issues.
It’s a shame tho. Someone might have really wanted the hat.
Doesn’t make sense either. In a way, we would be helping advertise for Ford and/or one Ford dealer.

I don’t think it’s a firm number of VEROs that get you kicked off. I think it gets evaluated on a case by case basis. I’ve had several VERO issues over the years, but they’ve all been different types of items in different categories. I suspect, (I have no proof of this), that after you get a VERO, you are on a watch list for awhile, where eBay keeps an eye on you to make sure you aren’t some sort of n’er do well. If you respond appropriately to the VERO and do not list that item, or similar items, again, you eventually fade off their watch list. But…if you end up with another VERO at a later date, the past VERO issues can be taken into consideration. I think this is an issue where eBay is looking at your trend as a seller vs a fixed number.
I would definitely take down the remaining Ford hats you have. It’s not worth poking the bear. Maybe list them on facebook marketplace or another platform that is less picky.

I agree Liz. Think you are spot on. Why tempt fate. We too have had a few over the years but did not repeat the same items and mistakes agagin. Each time was for a new and different item and each of those cases we just didn’t know, so they informed us with their VERO letter.
