Here’s my what sold post for the month of May

I’ve heard that games in cases sell well. I used to see them all the time, and now that I have heard they are worth selling I haven’t seen one since!

This handmade doll cradle bed sold for $37. I bought it in an auction lot with some dolls and a few other items. Each item cost about $1.

I’ve mentioned this item before, but they’ve just started to sell pretty regularly. A wooden crate from a table lot had pounds of reproduction square nails. I’ve been selling them in an 8 ounces (min 40) bunch for $4.95. The buyer can buy as many bunches as they want and the shipping fee is set at $4.99. I thought that would inspire buyers to order several, but, no, I’ve been selling them one 8 ounce bag at a time. I sold two last week, one so far this week, and several in the past month or so. I started at 20 pounds, so I’ll make about $200 when they’re all sold.

I bought an online auction lot for a dollar or two because I wanted something in it for myself. It came with an insulated bag that I decided to donate, but I found 6 NJ beach tags inside. They sold for $26! They are only a few years old, so I’m not sure that they are so collectable. I’m thinking someone plans to sneak on the beach for free if the one of the tag colors is reused this year.

A really, really beat old red box sold on Etsy for $40. I paid the $3.00 asking. The buyer paid an additional $40 for shipping to expedite. He is using it as a gift box for his mother’s birthday. I wonder what lovely gifts he plans to put in there?

I bought 5 old rusted sliding meat hooks for $10 at a pricey antique booth, sort of surprised they were priced so cheap. One buyer bought them all on Etsy and on eBay for $60. Here are two listed on eBay, selling for $25.

I sell some pretty cool old keys on Etsy by the piece. However, I like this one that sold on eBay, not so cool but I noticed the TTC4 number on this old Corbin trunk key seems to sell well. $25 not bad for a boring little key, cost to me was pretty much free.

My Tech savvy boss at the regular job was more than happy to discard this Wired Mouse. However, not everyone wants wireless. I picked the trash and made a quick $40.

Another treasure from the trash of a collision shop, this time an OEM GM made Exhaust tip, $65. The shop was making room. I also have a bunch of new in the package car floor mats that should sell quick at $100 per set. Just gathering up big flat square shipping boxes before the multi item listing goes live. That’s cool that you’ve learned how to clean up the insides of old electronics like that. I need to watch some more YouTube videos about that. I’ve got a multi meter recently but I don’t even know how to use the thing.

I started out the week with a nice sale on a pair of small lamps. They’re made by the Spaulding China Company not too far from where I live. I really didn’t think much of them when I pulled them out of the box lot in which they came, and there wasn’t any comparables to go by online. But I priced them high anyways and they sold within a couple months for $50.

I recently took apart a TV that came with the house here and has stopped displaying a picture. I did try to fix it but the solutions that I researched went beyond what I was comfortable with. So I disassembled it and am selling the working parts. This base mount sold for $40.

Here’s my big sale of the week. I acquired this set of four Famous Artists Course books at an estate sale for a couple bucks. I’ve sold these before so I knew I had a winner. They were from the 1950’s and basically taught you how to illustrate. Most I’ve seen are personalized in the corner but that doesn’t matter. These sold for full price of $200.

Here’s an odd sale. I found this chemical dispensing contraption one day on a walk out in someone’s trash pile. It was brand new and still wrapped in plastic. I don’t remember exactly what it is used for, but I listed it for $55 and it finally sold last week.

It’s funny how some weeks are up and some down. I had a few interesting sales. The following all came from my MaxSold buys. MaxSold is my favorite way of acquiring inventory. It can be a pain to drive to some of the locations but I end up getting stuff that I never would have looked at at yard sales or thrifts.

My big sale was a vintage lot of Ready Set Grow book in their original box. The maxsold lot where I got these books was a huge lot of vintage (70s-80s) kids books. I really didn’t look at the rest of the lot but I knew this set would sell well. I don’t think these books had even been looked at.

Here’s an example of what I end up doing with some of the games and stuff I get in the maxSold lots. The games are usually incomplete or something. That was the case for this Electronic Kit. I couldn’t get it to work (I don’t have Steve’s skills!) so I just sold the Instruction Manual that came with it. Not a big sale but I only had about .50 into each game.
