We don’t offer free shipping. The last two items sold show feee shipping. When I checked ALL our items say free shipping. Trying to figure out how this happened and how to turn it off. Please help

I assume that you do not have business policies set up, so you should quickly fix the issue by selecting listings with similar shipping setups (First Class, Priority/Parcel, FedEx, etc) and use the bulk editor to get rid of free shipping
After that, I would call eBay and report the issue. It won’t hurt to ask them if they will cover the shipping cost of the two items that sold. I guess whether they do or not depends on if they believe it is a bug on their part.
I would tell you to call eBay first and then fix the issue, but you don’t want to have another sale with free shipping.
I have business policies, so I think a bug like that shouldn’t affect me.
Recently, I have noticed a few listings that had the condition statement blank when I went to edit them. I always put something in the condition statement for used items, so I’m pretty sure there was something there before I went to edit.

I just put my store on vacation and to not allow items to sell. We have plenty of heavy items that would kill us to ship for free. All of our business policy for shipping say (free) in the description. This just happened in the last few hours automatically.

We def have business policies. We have 2800 items and have never offered free shipping. I can’t find where to cancel this and how the h*ll did it happen? Store currently on vacation now until we get this figured out. Rita my partner will be calling eBay asap

That’s a good idea to put your store on vacation mode before calling eBay. That way they can see the issue and you won’t get another free shipping sale. Hopefully, I’ll remember that if something like this affects me in the future.
It should be easily corrected in business policies since you have that set up, but you should get to the root of the problem first.

When I go into my business policies I don’t even see an option to deselect free shipping. And somehow all the titles for my shipping policies now say (free).

Wow, that’s a bug and a half!

if you go to the page for your business policies, you should be able to edit each one.
The easiest way to find the page is to go to account and it should show up in the drop down menu.
Are you missing the option to edit?

I see no option to select or deselect free shipping.
We called eBay. They said fixing it and will reimburse us for shipping cost. But not fixed yet.

I see now the toggle to turn off free shipping. Think I was just freaking out and hungry as to why I didn’t see it before. Or it wasn’t there and eBay fixed something. eBay has already gone in and de-selected free shipping on all the shipping business policies now.

Well, they are all back to free shipping again. And this time business policies don’t have free shipping tab checked (I triple checked)
So calling eBay again. I’ll update later when it’s resolved.

Currently all “free shipping” boxes in business policy definitely not checked. Items are switching from free shipping to normal “buyer pays” from moment to moment. eBay said could take 24 hours to fix.
Since they said they would cover shipping costs I turned our store back on. Hopefully they do cover the shipping cost, especially if something heavy is sold.

All back to normal now. eBay didn’t say what was wrong. Some coding issue I guess.

I’m experiencing similar issues with eBay randomly changing my business policies and listings…and it is getting very frustrating. They change my shipping options, they add best offer to items that I don’t want that turned on, my international shipping restrictions list in settings does not at all match what the buyers see in my listings, categories don’t show in my store, my logo doesn’t show in the listing panel, etc, etc. Even my business policies for returns randomly changes to the old version where there was no distinction between domestic and international returns and restocking fees are allowed.
Thus far it hasn’t caused any issues, but it takes so much work even with my small store to constantly be vigilant about the random changes. I don’t have the option to just quit, but it really destroys the trust I want to have with the platform. The service agents don’t seem to understand or care. “We’ll make a note” is the best I ever get out of them. Sure, fine, make a note…but FIX the darn issue or get me to someone who can!

Not dismissing your experience, but we’ve never had any of our policies just randomly change. Never seen these issues you mention.
How long have you been selling on eBay? Has it just started happening. Are you doing a lot of tweaking recently?

Ebay has been adding “Best Offer” to my listings without a best offer, after they’ve been listed for about a week. I’ve had a store 4 years and this started happening last summer, I think. When I called, they shrugged (I could sense it over the phone). No answers given.
I’ve gotten used to it since I know to look for it, and change back the non-Best Offer listings to how they were originally.
Do you get the email from them? I get that sometimes. “Your items can now accept offers to attract more buyers!”

I’ve been selling actively since last August and upgraded to a store in January. I’ve had issues from the beginning, but the glitches and errors seem to jump around.
I’ve never had a correct Listing Frame…the logo and store categories do not show even though I’ve selected both options.
My business policies were created when I started the store in January. I set it up initially how I wanted it, but I am forced to constantly monitor and change things back.
Just today, for example, two new shipping policies were added. This is common. They seem to match the standards of the default shipping policy I have, but is named differently. I frequently have to open the listing affected and move them into the correct policy. I then delete the policies created by eBay. This is a weekly thing I’ve just had to get in the habit of doing.
I also noticed today that the excluded countries list in the international shipping preferences I have set in my account settings does not at all match what buyers see in my listings. For example, I do not exclude Australia or New Zealand from shipping, the box is unchecked, but they show as excluded in my listings. Reverse that, I have checked to exclude the Russian Federation, but currently my listings show that Russia is a country not excluded. I just got off the phone with eBay and once again “they will look into it”.
My business policy settings for returns are set how I want them, but I’ve noticed that randomly when I go to look at those policies that I will frequently get the old options…setting a restocking fee for example. I have sent screenshots of this to eBay and never hear back.
Best offer being added to listings just happened today as well. I noticed the error and had to go back in and turn it off. Not only was best offer added, but automatic rejection numbers were set for anything below half my asking price. That ensures to me that it wasn’t just an error on my behalf to turn it on in the first place, because I even on items I do accept offers on, I never use the auto reject feature.
So ya, it’s a constant struggle to keep up with all the bugs. I call, agents see the issue, and then they make a ticket and pass it on…where it just gets lost. I’ll call back weeks later and go through the process again. Thankfully this hasn’t created any big issues yet, and at least I’m on record of having brought it to their attention, but it all just creates this “itchy” feeling in the back of my mind that things aren’t right. I am growing as a seller and hoping to turn this into a full time gig in two or three years. I absolutely love the entire process. I also know tech has issues sometimes. I used to work in IT and have seen plenty of weird things. I just wish I could worry more about sourcing and shipping than about whether the website is working or not…or if my policies will be changed and stick me in a negative situation.
There isn’t anything anyone on a forum can do. I guess I shared to point out that these issues do exist and people should monitor their policies and listings closely to make sure everything is set how you want it to be.
Plus, whining is a little cathartic. 🙂

For us, been on eBay under this name full time since 2016 and I previously sold full time under my old business since 2012. 2850 items. No tweaking.
Yesterday out of the blue all of our items became free shipping. We have never once offered free shipping. The box for free shipping was not selected under any of our business policies.
We have talked to eBay reps for hours. They have somehow changed 2000 of our items back to how they should be, but 800 still showing free shipping. They keep telling us they will refund us the shipping expenses for those items.

So…our business policies didn’t actually change, but somehow all the items became Fast & Free.

I’ve just discovered a way to fix the issue. I searched for items with free shipping. 800 were found. I selected to bulk edit 1-500 and then 501-800 and submitted without changing anything. After this went through, the Free Shipping big was removed.
So didn’t actually change our business policies because those never changed. Editing a listing and not changing anything removed the bug. How it happened in the first place??? No one knows.

MoCoyotes,
That’s similar to what I experience when the random shipping policies are added to my business policies. When I go in to edit the listings of those placed in the “new” policy, I see that my original selection is still the one chosen. I leave it alone and submit it without actually changing anything, and then it’s right again. I do this for all the listings in the “new” policy, and then delete the policy.
