I have a ton of nice leather belts to list but I’m not sure how to store them. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I must have had some connection issues last night. I couldn’t log in to answer until this morning.
I have 100 belts right now with another 30-50 belts coming. All nice leather belts barely or never worn. I’m trying to think of a way to store so that they are easily accessible when they sell. Another factor is that they all look very similar and all the same size.
Thanks for any suggestions! I appreciate it!

you could store them individually in ziploc bags with code numbers and put that code number in your listing so when it sells you know it’s belt 001-1 (number of belt and what bin it’s in? something like that) we do that with fabric. we number it and put that number on the description, so we know where it’s located.

That’s what I was thinking too. Otherwise, it would be a nightmare. Do you coil the belt tightly in the bag and if you do, have you seen any damage to the belt?

we don’t have that many belts. so they just get put in a bin with no further organization. but i think if you coil them up, they should be fine. people store them like that in their drawer, right?

I don’t have as many belts as you, so I just put them in plastic bags like Ryanne suggested, but I thought I would mention how I organize my neckties, which is in Trading Card Boxes. They have cardboard dividers to separate rows, so you can neatly have them all organized in one place. The same could be done with your belts, and you could write or us a a label maker on the edge of the box, letting you know what color is in the box, etc.

I fold them loosely and put a rubber band around the middle ( looks like a figure 8). Slide them down in a cellophane bag fold down the bag top and tape closed. Put inventory tag in right-hand corner and put in shoebox size tote with tags all facing same direction so I can just slide tote out of shelve and grab what I need ready to ship.

Keep an eye out for a belt hanger or tie hanger. While all the above are great ways to organize. This is just diffrent and gets the belts from being bent. Also peg board with inventory hooks.

While I can’t comment on the belt condition, being organized with larger amounts of similar items can make a huge difference when searching for an item during shipping, as I am sure everyone knows. I have over 100 t-shirts and I try to keep the number of shirts in one bin to 20-30. I do not organize by color since I can spot the 4-5 white shirts in a bin of 20 various colors faster than looking for a single white shirt in a box of white shirts. The same could apply to belts. Don’t keep all the brown belts together, mix them up. In terms of bin location, I label my bins A1, B1, C1….. and then just keep a spreadsheet with the bin number. When a shirt sells, I look at my spreadsheet and then go right to that bin.

I store belts coiled in ziplock bags, with a short description on each bag. All of my belts are in one tub, it doesn’t take long to find the right one. I have about 50 belts right now. I don’t use any kind of inventory code because numbers are hard for me to remember. Descriptor make more sense to my brain. I am still storing like items together. 2500 items in my inventory – it works for me.

If you have exposed 2×4 walls (like on the unfinished side of a basement or inside a shed/garage) use some nails (12-16 p). Use black marker above each nail, and organize by M or W, black, brown, other, and size (36, 40, etc. M, Small, Med. etc. W). You should be able to put 3-5 belts on each nail, which is a small enough number to allow easy id by sight, plus, you can “fan” them out easily.
