@always-a-trade-off-u-kMy trusty Mac Book Pro is on the way out according to my Tech Guy. Its 7 years old and has this spec.
2.9ghz. Intel Core i7 8gb Ram Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536mb its running Mojave. My question is what should I replace it with ? I need a Mac as I am a Garage Sale user, I am not a gamer, and dont do video editing. I think I would like a 15″ screen this time.
All advice on spec appreiated.

Seven years is a good run on any laptop. So Kudos.
If you like the mac platform (like we do), you could get away with a MacBook Air like me.
We bought mine used for a good price on eBay (I think $600?)Here are my specs.
MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015)
Processor Name: Intel Core i5
Processor Speed: 1.6 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
L3 Cache: 3 MB
Memory: 8 GBWe were in Walmart yesterday and I saw that tey sell Chromebooks for under $200:

If we didnt love the Mac OS, I could see this as a perfect way to just use the web, basic office functions, watch movies etc. -

i would agree with getting a macbook air. they’re cheaper than the Pros. unless you are editing video, doing heavy graphics, you don’t really need to pay for a pro. or like jay said, chrome books are super affordable.

Is there something wrong with your laptop, or are you thinking it is just outdated? The guy may just be trying to sell you a new one.
My main home desktop is a 2010 HP all in one. It runs like a champ on windows 10 for basic needs.
My ebay computer is a 2011 MacBook pro 13″ that I LOVE listing on. The only thing I’d like to do to it is add a SSD harddrive to speed things up a bit.-

I’m still using a Compaq Presario from 2001 (I bought it open box then from what became Staples) running Windows XP to print all my shipping labels…the thing won’t die!
My main eBay computer is an Acer Laptop from 2014 – it is also my TV’s PVR, and I stream all my media from it (music and video). It has been running 24/7 for years with no issues. I’m thinking of replacing in the next few years as when I’m downloading video, listening to music, and listing on eBay all at the same time, it is starting to chug along. I’ve tried an iPad I just got for Xmas for eBay work, but find it takes a lot longer – still like the computer.

I believe the Macbook Air only has a 13″ screen, but it’s the one I’d go with if I had to go back to using a Mac.

I have a 2009 Macbook Pro Laptop and the only problem is the battery and I added some memory. I have changed it about 3 times and it never quite works. I get about 1 hour charge, which is enough for me to ship.
I LOVED my Macbook Air I had for work, it was so great! I would get one for personal use. -

If you buy directly from the apple store, you can get an essentially brand new “refurb” laptop for at least $200 off what you would pay for new. This at least allows you to purchase apple care for it. It’s in the clearance/refurb part of the apple store website. I’m not sure if they have this in the UK.
Last year, I purchased a 2017 macbook 12″ at a discount thanks to this section of the website. It has the best battery life of any laptop I’ve ever used, and only weighs like 2 pounds. It also has a fast flash hd. I’ve turned it into my listing machine.

I have a 10 year old macbook that I use for shipping and do everything else on my super cheap chromebook. It’s slow as molasses and won’t hold a charge but it prints just fine.
I found out after I got the chromebook that they aren’t compatible with all printers. Technically, I could see if my printer is wifi enabled and can do some sort of cloud printing but my parents do that and it takes a good 5 minutes for their printer to start printing. So I keep my macbook hooked up to my printer and fervently hope it doesn’t die any time soon. -

2. I like Mac
So i think I will look at Mac Book Air refurb from the Apple Store.
I will let you know what I get.
Thanks from the U.K.
