Today we were printing our labels and an item disappeared from “sold”. Couldn’t find it in sold items on the app or the website. I was able to find it by searching sold items and filtering by distance, and I was able to print the label from my phone this way. We checked PayPal to make sure the payment was there, and it was.
The item is still not showing in sold or unsold or active listings. Can only be found by searching eBay.
Anyone had this happen before? We had 8 items today so easily noticed that it went missing. Plus we had already pulled it out to ship as it was in the sold items before. If it had been on a Monday with 30 things to ship, we may have missed it all together.

I’ve only had this happen when eBay/Paypal flagged the transaction as possibly fraudulent. They will send an email a few hours later explaining why the sale was cancelled.
I’ve also had this happen after I shipped an item – I just had to have proof I shipped the item (the shipping label transaction) and they let me keep the money.

Ditto re Inglewood’s experience, a couple times as seller. Also had it happen to me as a buyer, which was really weird since the item actually showed up.
When it has happened to me, the item listing got scrubbed from everywhere but sometimes a Google search would pull it up due to page caching, I guess.

I’ve had it happen three times: twice after shipping, when eBay notified me that the buyer was “not a registered user” or something, and once before shipping, when eBay notified me that they’d cancelled the sale because it was a fraudulent user name or some such.
On all three occasions, eBay ensured I was not out of pocket.

Thanks all.
We called eBay. They said, and who knows if this is correct, but that it is a system error that has been happening. They said the sale was not fraudulent. So apparently a glitch.

Update: The buyer has received the item and left positive feedback. So the sale disappearing was some system glitch. Glad we noticed it.

I just had a similar thing happen. I saw the Paypal email saying I had received money from a buyer. No record of the sale on ebay, and my item is still listed as available for sale on ebay right now. I checked Bonanza and Truegether and it’s not a sale from either of those sites. The money is in paypal right now and shows it’s a sale from ebay.
It’s too late to call ebay now, so I guess I’ll call in the morning to ask what the heck I’m supposed to do.

I came here looking to see if this is a current issue because I am in the same situation. Confirmed PayPal payment received this morning but no sale showing on ebay (or secondary bonanza, truegether) and the item listing is still active.

So I called eBay and they blamed PayPal, saying it was some sort of data transmission error with Paypal. The gist was that PayPal failed to send info reflecting that Payment was successful. eBay’s suggestion was that I refund and tell the buyer to repurchase on eBay so I don’t lose seller protection benefits.
I found that answer a little lacking. The CSR says it’s a known issue and I don’t get the impression eBay intends to do anything about it.
I am going to take my chances and send the item. It is $25 in books that I have maybe $1 into. If the buyer later on files a charge back then I will just refund and move on.
