I just looked at my seller performance and I have new defects for late tracking uploaded metric. Which I thought was odd since I always buy postage through eBay on time and it automatically uploads tracking. My post person doesn’t always scan but that is another issue. Then I noticed that the sale date was Dec 4th and the carrier scan was Dec 6th, so this was because I didn’t ship on Dec 5th since it was a postal holiday that eBay posted a message that they would take care of any defects so sellers weren’t impacted.
Anyone else have this issue? I haven’t called eBay yet and won’t have time today.

I just looked at we just got hit by about 10 late shipping dings. I assume its because of that holiday. Because it wasnt a pro=programmed holiday, I bet eBay will say those dings will be retroactively removed. Hopefully each of us do not need to call to remove them.

I have 3 items. The thought of calling ebay right now makes me nauseuous…and I’m not a person that fears calling people. That’s saying something!

like jay said, we have several late tracking dings. a bunch of them are due to, what i’m assuming, is high volume of holiday packages this time of year and some of my items took 8-10 days to get to people. one of them was my postal carrier didn’t see a smaller package in my pickup bag and it didn’t go out until the next day. they all add up. hoping USPS congestion eases when we get back and have a bunch of stuff to ship.

We’re talking specifically about the items that were late because of the December 5 day of mourning.
I have 3 of those.

eBay pulled off all the late tracking/shipping information for me during the month long postal strike and subsequent backlog in Canada. It took a few weeks but they did remove it as they promised.

Yes, I noticed my late shipping rate went up as well. I did have a package or two that was delayed by the Dec 5 day of mourning. Glad it is not just me.

Any updates on this? Do I have to call? I just got dinged for 2 items on 12/4.

Hello, I just noticed 4 late tracking items all from December 5th and called.
After the rep said it was taken care of (will take 24 hours to go threw)
I asked if ebay knew this was a problem and was going to fix this for all sellers and he said each individual seller would have to call in.
Sorry.
I called when it was not busy and it still took 20 minutes with the rep to fix this.
You will need each item number and patience.
Thank You! Have a good New Year! -

Thank you. eBay’s incompetence is astounding.

Yep, we got dinged too. We are only at a .7% rate with those, so if they fix it, great, if not, great.

Only 1 of the 4 CSRs knew what I was talking about but didn’t have the tools needed to remove the defects. They said a ticket would be put into the system and to call back in 5 days if nothing changed.

I guess this is an advantage of having a 2-day handling time. I have no issues.

Ebay posted an announcement on 12/28 that they will automatically remove the metric defects associated with the day of mourning. but they ask for patience so it may take time.

Thanks for the update on the announcement – I also called eBay and they told me 2-3 days for automatic removal.. It has been 3 days and I still have the defects so will give it a few more days – but hoping these drop off without having to call again. I’ve got 3 dings for Dec 5th tracking uploaded late…

I just noticed that today my ding (I only had one for Dec 5) was removed. I did not call eBay to request it. It just happened.

I can confirm the same thing on our account. We didn’t call either.
The metric only shows 2 items that were late, and checking the full report, the other items from Dec 5 are on the report, but grayed out and not included.

UPDATED 12/28/18Sellers, you may notice late shipment metrics on your seller dashboard due to the December 5 National Day of Mourning. We are working to remove those metrics by the first week of January. These metrics will not be reflected in your January 20 seller evaluation and will have no impact on your seller performance.
There is no need to contact eBay to have these metrics removed; they will happen automatically. Thank you for your patience as we make these changes.
Original article
USPS has announced very limited operations for December 5, 2018, in observance of the National Day of Mourning for the passing of President George H.W. Bush.
As such,
All Post Office locations will be closed.
Regular mail will not be delivered.
Package delivery will be limited.eBay will automatically protect your Seller Performance and your late shipment rate will not be impacted for USPS shipments during this closure (any defects incurred will be removed and correctly reflected in your monthly seller evaluation).
And remember, as a holiday best practice, please ensure to handle within or faster than your handling time.
Thank you for selling on eBay.”
