A few months ago, I bought a box of silver plate at an auction for $10. I finally got to polishing and photographing them two weeks ago. The box had partial sets of two patterns, so I broke them down into listings of 2 to 5 items each. Last week, I sold four listings to one buyer and two listings to another, all in the Gorham Stanhope pattern. The total for the six sales came to about $141. I purchased this granite cooker in an auction that sells overstocks, refused merchandise, etc. I paid $2.50, and it sold for $29.50. And… speaking of fur coats, here is an update because I’ve talked about it before – I finally sold the old mink fur coat (last month). Upon taking it home and researching the matter and talking to some of you guys on SL, I realized it was far more damaged and dried out than anticipated and I just wanted it OUT of my space – so I sold it cheap… Oh well, at least I recouped the original $10 I spent on it, right? I really enjoyed this one, great price on the ’76 Beef hat, cool blow mold Santa, nice eye on the obscure books, great pipeline on the train books. Books, mugs, and snap back style hats seem to require the eye/gut combo when purchasing. That feeling J&R speak of. You must have that X factor to succeed in getting the good prices for those items on a consistent basis. Can’t be taught really!
Always intrigued by the Audio equipment, the purchase, tinkering, packing, and follow through. The little gizmo deal was an amazing sale. I’m almost totally ignorant to gadgets like that, although my back is now not turned 100% at least. Thank you. Very nice snowy landscapes and nature through the dogs.

Thank you, I think it’s mostly experience. I’ve been doing this type of buying and reselling before there was ebay, can’t believe I’ve bought and sold items via newspaper or magazine want ads.
Great week of sales all around. Though almost half of my sales came from this vintage aluminum Christmas tree with a music box rotating base and color wheel. I acquired this at an auction for way over my normal budget… $185.00. I came home and listed it right away. It didn’t sell before Christmas, but afterwards I acquired the rotating Christmas color wheel at another auction. So to sweeten the deal, I relisted it with the color wheel and added some video to the listing. Well it finally sold for a best offer of $730 with free shipping. I won a bid on a stack of old board games at an auction a few months ago. Most of it was junk, including an old Lite-Brite. If you look on ebay, there’s a ton of these up for sale for not a lot of money (anywhere from $10 to $25). And it was bulky too which is always a turn-off for whether I want to sell an item for not a lot of dough. But apparently, people also just sell the colored pegs. Mine had a container included which, after counting, contained around 800 of these little things. These Craftsman Robo-Grip pliers came up at an auction recently and I got them for $10. I wanted them for myself because I bought a pair for my dad when I was a kid and man, these things are quite versatile. But when I price checked them on eBay, I decided I could do without them. These Star Wars overalls were one of those items that I had no clue what someone would be willing to pay. They were youth sized, probably for a 4 or 5 year old. But they were true vintage, most likely from the year the original movie came out. So I decided to let the market decide what they were worth. I started them out at $40, but they just didn’t get any interest until the end when they sold for that amount. I can’t complain though… kids clothing usually doesn’t garner a lot of high prices. I have a lot of Christmas decor and ornaments up for sale right now (my Elves on Shelves were just VERO removed, grrrr), and not at the lowest prices, but they are on the unique/desired side of the spectrum. Sold this vintage lot of Shiny Brites with their original box for $35. I think I paid $4 or $5 at a thrift, but I wasn’t tracking purchases like this at the time, as I was planning some value-added Christmas decor. I tend to pick up Williams Sonoma items whenever I see them, cause they’re crazy expensive and have a following. I found 8 of these napkins at a local thrift for about .50 cents each. Rec’d a best offer for $20 on one set of 4, alerting me to the fact that the listing was posted with a Best Offer setting checked (back during that wonderful eBay glitch)!
