I’m sure folks have probably heard about the update to the recent changes with sales promotions and 14 days at the same price changes. eBay has reversed their position on the 14 day no promotions situation. The eBay post is located here: https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/Markdown-Manager-Update/m-p/28694630#M1243130
It reads: In the 2018 Summer Seller Update, we announced new changes to requirements for creating a markdown sale event that went into effect on June 25, 2018. We listened to your feedback and have made a change to these markdown sale requirements. Sellers can now add items to a markdown sale event even if the listing was previously in another sale event within the past 14 days as long as the listing price has not been changed.
So, the base listing price cannot be changed in the last 14 days. I believe this will still allow for perma-sales to continue. There was a shoe seller on last week’s podcast which this may help tremendously. Well, heck, it will help us all. YEAH!!!

Yep, you can do perma-sales IF you use “Good Til Cancelled”.
–List an item new.
–Wait 14 days.
–Put on sale.
–When sale ends, you can put back on sale as long as you dont change the price. If you re-list every 30 days:
–you have to wait 14 days before you can put items on sale.
–Then the item can go on sale for the rest of the remaining part of the 30 day period.
–After items ends, you relist as new, and the process starts again. -

So does this mean I can now go start a sale, or are we still on sale lockdown mode? I’d really like to start a sale to try and boost my sales.

this is still confusing to me. i was able to put our stores on sale, but it only picked up 75% of all my listings. so whats the deal?

Ryanne,
Did you end a bunch of things with the lost picture debacle in order to save them from dropping your photos? I did. And those don’t qualify now bc I ended them and relisted so I would t lose photos. So now all those are “new”.-

Thank goodness I can still do sales on the back half of my 30 day listings day 15-30… which I plan to continue to do every 24 hours. For my store, I am convinced that sales make a difference – a lot of clothes and shoes – but sales make everything move – even stale obscure inventory. I ran a sale today and it picked up 25% of my inventory – I will try again tomorrow to verify what happens.

I rarely want to include new listings in sales, so the 14 day restriction is actually very handy.

This will be interesting for us. We started doing some short duration sales about 2 months ago to see if it would spur some sales and it seemed to work. We haven’t run any sales in about 3 weeks and our sales have still seemed to be running solid.
We are OK with the sales only being on the items that are Day 15-30 only. Makes sure that our new items are at least out there for 2 weeks before we discount them.

I wanted to follow up –> I was able to run two consecutive 24 hour sales on my 30 day listings… so markdown manager is working as expected now. You can successfully put an item on sale (Day 15.. and then put it on sale again Day 16).

Jay – 30 Day (and a few GTC). Both were pulled in… Most of my listings are 30 Day Sell Similar.
