Uh, what exactly are you pointing to? Its all just generic verbiage.
“There’s no secret to improving your position in the Best Match sort order. Sellers who follow best listing and selling practices will see their items appear higher in the search results.
Start by offering competitive prices, reasonable shipping, and great customer service.” -

I shared this becayse I did a lot of reading last night about how ebay will be showing products to buyers on their new product pages. It will not be by seller or listings. It will be by best match and some listings/sellers will not even appear which will cause sales to drop.
This is the best match criteria ebay will be using to show shoppers products baed on their individual pages which AI is being used to accumulate data for and develop individual shopper pages.

Hey AdventureE, I feel its time we have a little head to head.
You post quite often on this forum which is great. We like participation. But after much reading and watching of your history, you post a lot of noise.
This post is a great example. It’s a generic post title with a link to an eBay page. There’s no context, research, or personal interpretation. The link itself doesn’t even give any good info. As you can see, no one has responded which means I’m not the only one who most likely finds it a lazy post at best. When I ask you for more details, you often respond with a good helping of word salad.
I don’t know if you are a man, woman, old, young, but I do feel you are fairly new to eBay who often posts with strong opinions with little experience or evidence to what you’re discussing.
Please don’t take this an insult or publicly embarrassing you. But I am asking you to be more respectful when you post here about opinions that you can’t back up. If you have the urge to post, please make sure you are adding to the conversation. We strive to keep this forum with a high signal to noice ratio.

Wow!
What an intersting response to share with one of your community members based on your perspective of what I know and don’t know. It is unfortunate that you do not consider my participation as valued (based on your perspective and frustrations) like all members participation should be valued.I do not consider my postings (many of which are based on research and experiences) as noise and as you know, not every post has to be responded to.
Sometimes it is simply sharing info with the community.I will have to strongly consider as to whether to continue in this community when one of the moderators has let me know I contribute noise which is a non inclusive and non welcoming dynamic.

No problem, AdventureE. You’re in our home here on the web so consider yourself a guest. Please take off your shoes when coming inside.

Whoah Jay…
Maybe do like the rest of us have done as you pointed out on this thread and uh…not post on it.

Come on Retro. You know the internet. As a moderator, if the tone is not set correctly, it all becomes gross, chaos, boring and horrible.
All I’m asking of AdventureE is to step up his/her game as we expect of everyone who posts on a regular basis.
Since we allow everyone here to be anonymous, we’re allowed to be a little tougher/honest with people than we would in polite company.

Jay,
Treating people with respect and dignity is something everybody should do, but when you are the moderator and therefore considered a leader of the community, it is a mandate. It is a serious mistake by many to consider the blindness of the internet to be a safe place to treat others with anything less than the same respect and dignity you would treat them in person.I wonder how you might react if someone shared something they did not like about your participation/ offerings in the way you shared above. I wonder how you might react if when you were wrong about something or misstated something they so inpolitely posted it in the manner in which you have?

Nope. The internet is be a bad place because of lack of moderation and people taking advantage of being anonymous.
One thing I know about you is that you have an AOL email account. Assumptions here: you are a baby boomer male (but maybe a woman or non-binary?) who doesnt have a lot of experience with online communities like this. This is not Facebook where people post to every message without contributing any new info. You are in is a focused technical forum that specializes in sharing detailed info about selling online, specifically eBay. I am a moderator and owner of this forum who makes sure all community members conform.
Now the jokes are done. You have been first notified in a friendly way to respect the forum rules. If you continue to respond with (mock) outrage, we will do you a favor by unsubscribing you since you are so unhappy.
Ryanne and I have grown our business, made real money, and bought our freedom because of the generosity of knowledge from other sellers in this space. We will protect this rare environment. I have seen online communities drain away from too much noise. It is not your right to be here. It is a privilege. I am the doorman.

Love you Jay, you are truly an amazing person. I owe you a lot and I do consider myself very lucky to be part of this forum. Very! But I have to say, too harsh and frankly uncharacteristic of you. Just be sure that AdventureE is the right target and that you are not actually annoyed about something else. I don’t know what happened in the end with Auction Kenny but he is gone I believe (check out his account name…oy!) and I actually learned from him. AdventureE is not easy to understand at times but not evil or intentionally wanting to cause harm. Not like that one crazy lady that was poison and you rightly, in my opinion, kicked her out.
AdventureE: It has been asked of you before to clearly state your point so as to be helpful to those that read your posts. I have to agree that a generic communication with no arrows or pointers to the point you are trying to make creates “noise” and is not a viable communication system. If your purpose is to be helpful, which I believe it is, then perhaps listening to what others have said to you in regards to what would actually be helpful (such as concise communication with point made), would make it a more rewarding experience for anyone who wants to learn from you.

This shouldn’t have been a surprise for AdentureE. I have tried to work with him/her on multiple occasions and only gotten defensiveness. I let it slide. AdventureE is probably one of the most frequent posters on this forum so is the member most in need of moderation.
When you are moderated, you should moderate. If you get angry and act defensive, then the problem increases. AdventureE has a choice to make from here on out.
It’s too bad Auction Kenny doesn’t post more. If he got offended we tussled with him, that’s unfortunate. That was just a difference of opinion. But lots of people come and go. It’s just the internet. The real and more important world is outside that door.

Totally understood and of course I don’t have the whole picture as you do so I probably need to stay out of it. Love this forum and appreciate all that everyone does here to help one another.

Wow, this post got ugly fast. It quickly went from a battle of words to a “Shape up or Ship out” ultimatum.
I have to agree with Sigliani. This post was weak at best, but I think you went over the top on this one Jay. I’m not sure why you even bothered to respond.
That beings said Adventure, you do post a lot. I have to agree, posting a title and link, without any specific point to make doesn’t really contribute to the forum. Maybe it’s time to self regulate yourself and limit your posts to one or two a week. That way, you can be more selective in what you post.
Also Adventure, maybe it’s time to let your forum members know more about you. Sigliani has come out to defend you and I’m sure she’d like to know more about you. I doubt she’s the only one.
You say “it’s just the Internet” Jay. I don’t think you really believe that. otherwise you and Ryanne wouldn’t spend so much time here. This is a great place for people who do what we do. This is more that just the Internet.
Thank you for this great place.
“Can’t we all just get along”
Peace out

Way back in the mists of time, before the forum existed in this format, Jay ‘moderated’ me for, essentially, live-posting my way through a bad transaction I was having. I was venting, flailing, and complaining… gnashing my teeth and wailing… but not — at that particular moment — bringing anything constructive to any conversation, asking any specific questions, or doing anything other than spraying my negativity around due to my own anxiety.
When Jay. politely and directly, ‘moderated’ me, I was chagrined and a little hurt. But, upon reflection, I realized that Jay was protecting the space he and Ryanne have created, and that there were better ways for me to handle that anxiety both generally in my eBay life and within the specific confines of the community. So, was I embarrassed at being called out? Sure. But Jay and Ryanne put a lot of time and energy into creating a place with a specific tone, flavor, and worldview. Random hysteria doesn’t have a place here. Random links without explanation, same. Jay said there’s a history of conversations with the original poster, so I don’t think his message above came out of nowhere.
