Thank you Steve for always sharing your amazing finds and sales. Here is our contribution to the collection and hope this is helpful to others.
Concrete boot planters, Police silver pendant from 1939, Johnny Was shirts, Vintage Holgate stacking rings toy, bibles in English and German, vintage camera and more….
Sigilini, nice job on the Johnny Was. I’ve only gotten my hands on one of their shirts and it was a really cool one. Unfortunately it was on the smaller side, but I still got an easy $35 for it. I’d die if I found a bunch.
Here’s my monthly sales vid, it’s only five sales for the month because of my wedding and weeklong honeymoon. I had to put my store in vacation mode plus a 10 day handling time since I was on a cruise and couldn’t use wifi to notify customers. I tried to include a couple pics in the vid but the screen capture didn’t pick them up like I thought, and too lazy to redo it. Anyway:
This is the hat that was causing me grief due to it selling a couple times without being paid for. But I guess it was worth it since it finally sold for $99! I probably paid 50 cents for it.
Hat covered with Car Show Buttons – Paid $1 at an estate sale and it sold for $50.
This hat was too good to pass up. Paid around 25 cents and it sold for $20
Not a whole lot of exciting sales last week. Summer slowdown appears to be starting for me. Here’s some of the more notable sales…
I acquired this old 1967 brass dog licence tag and paperwork in a box lot a couple summers ago. I can’t figure out what compelled me to price it for $35, but it finally sold for full price. I paid about $3 for it. 1967 Dog License
This was my big sale of the week. This four-drawer document cabinet came from an estate sale. The sellers were trying to sell it and all the stuff inside it for I think $50! I told them I wasn’t interested in the things inside (which looked to me like old Kodak photo paper and maybe some manuals) but I would pay them $10 for just the box. We settled on $15. I used it for a while until I found something better. I listed it for $200 and it sold for full price a couple months later. Ward’s Scientific Document Cabinet
I found a bunch of these 2-XL talking robot cassette tapes in the bins at the Goodwill Outlet, so I only have a few cents into each of them. I found that some of the titles are really rare and can go for quite a bit of money. This and another one were the first to sell ($25 and $15). Tiger 2-XL Talking Robot Cassette Tape
Here’s a nice little BOLO for ya. The brand is called Vietri, and they make handpainted pottery kitchenware. I picked these up in a Goodwill down in Georgia while I was vacationing. I paid $3 for this set of four salad plates. It took a few months, but they sold for full price of $70. You’ve got to look at the bottoms for the name, cause they look like 75% of the dishware you see in thrift stores and I would have passed over them if I hadn’t. But I guess people want them for the brand. Vietri Pottery Salad Plates
I bought this Pennsylvania Dutch hex sign from an online auction at the minimum bid of $1. I priced this one in the middle because it seemed hand painted, but I couldn’t find information on the artist. It sold in a day or two for $24. Maybe I listed it a bit low? http://www.ebay.com/itm/183236695171
This is my first sale of a rotary phone. I couldn’t test it because the jack is smaller than the current standard. I bought it for about $5 and sold for $41. http://www.ebay.com/itm/183206523091
This porcelain figurine was given to me last year by one of my parents’ friends. It is a lace style porcelain, which is very fragile. It was damaged in the back because it hadn’t been packaged properly. I finally got around to listing it with local pickup only for $59 or best offer. I woke up in the morning with a few offers and a few messages, but someone bought it for full price. Someone in South Korea that thought it wasn’t a big deal for me to drive it to Delaware for shipping. I cancelled the sale and re-listed it for $199 or best offer. I accepted $140 from someone who had messaged me when it was only $59. The pickup is supposed to be sometime this weekend. http://www.ebay.com/itm/183241179184
I paid about $4 for this antique scale, and it sold for full price of $89. The brass plate on the front is corroded to such an extent that I could only read a few letters of the company name. It took some time, but I was finally able to find it was made by “John Chatillon & Sons”. http://www.ebay.com/itm/182939295550
I’m feeling a lot of self-doubt these days on the china and dishware pieces I’ve picked up, as they seem to just sit and sit and sit on the shelf. I think it’s just that my inventory isn’t composed of “hot” items, but rather the occasional sales sought out by collectors. Case in point: this Hull brown drip veggie bowl, picked up for a few bucks at an estate sale, sold for $50:https://www.ebay.com/itm/MINT-Hull-Pottery-Brown-Drip-10-Salad-Serving-Bowl-SB10/323014594788
Lampshades take up a lot of storage space (but can be nested) and typically don’t sell in a rush, but you can get good money for them. Try buying high quality ones at full retail, ouch! Picked this up at a thrift store for ~$3, and sold it for $25.
Steve!
Great Video as always- You must have mentioned pipe stands before because I bid on one at a local online auction. Actually I bought a Pip Stand, very cheaply, 10 bucks because of the misspelling…Whoot- Just listed it 159.00 OBO its a big old 25 pipe salute!
Was on holiday last week rooting for the Vegas Knights in the Cup- love a great underdog story… so as planned …crickets… Sold a Mt.Rainer guide and postcards for 17.00 with 3 day ‘free’ ship…items cost 1.00
This week is shaping up nicely 3 or 4 big sales already; with the little time I have to work it. Our new house is torn down to the studs in places, new roof going up, and replacing some 1950’s low voltage switching….
the EBAY WAREHOUSE is ready to go as soon as I get the Blinds up and the trades vehicles out of the way I measured 12×24 Ft. It used to be a woodworking shop so lots of shelves, counters and power…I will post in the storage section for advice please-
