Shipped an item to wrong buyer

  Somehow I managed to ship 2 items to one buyer. One was the item he bought the other was a different buyer.
  I think I printed the same label twice.
  He was nice said if I send him a shipping label he will mail it out.
  How do I do that ?

  I’ve never had to do this myself, but you can buy a label from USPS.com. You could then save it / print it to a PDF and send that to the buyer.
  
  Maybe someone else has more experience with this issue?

    If the item is marked as shipped, go into the item and select that you want to print another label. Select that you want to print this as from another location and add the address for where it currently is. Then when it is paid for and you are at the print screen, save the PDF and send to the buyer who has the item.
    
    We have had this happen before, and the other option is to send the buyer the address, ask them to ship it for you, and you reimburse via PayPal (plus a little extra for the trouble).

      I did this recently and it worked fine. EBay suggested that I do several confusing things involving paypal and USPS, but I finally realized that I could just print another label and change the addresses. Good to know!

  You guys are SO MUCH SMARTER than eBay or paypal..
  
  I was on the phone last night twice with eBay and they said there was no way to do this.
  I just followed your directions and see that it is available.
  In the meantime I refunded the buyer enough + a little extra to ship for me.
  I have not heard back from him so I don’t know if I should just wait or try to send him the label.
  What a mess.
  
  Ebay said I could not do this and recommended that the buyer just ‘return’ the item to me because the other buyer would have no protection if he mailed it directly?
  Paypal also said this could not be done but to do it directly from USPS.
  When I tried it would not allow me to create a 1st class shipping label fyi.
  I may just reprint the label send it to him and if he does not use it just void it.
  Ugg what a mess.

  Also I also realized that the USPS allowed me to send 2 different items with the same postage/upc info.
  Hope I don’t get in trouble for that?

    We did it (twice) when our boys did the shipping and shipped similar shirts to the wrong buyer. I caught it when I shipped the second one the next day.
    
    We put SKUs on the shirts now…

  I’m one step behind in this saga.
  I just printed out the label took a photo attached it in the email for eBay and sent it to him,
  
  I haven’t heard back so I don’t know if he already mailed it or not. Thats good to know though I didn’t realize the email address was on the paypal account. When I just looked at it some buyers didn’t have one some did.

  I wquld offer that this kind of thing can happen. We all make mistakes. I would offer that in the future, although it is going to add on cost, have the buyer just send the item back to you. With sending the label, you have no way of knowing what the buyer is actually sending the other buyer and most likely sending them the label falls outside of the seller protection policy which could bring extra costs if the package does not arrive to the new buyer, has the wrong item in it, or gets damaged in the shipping process.

  I just did this today. It happens. I’m not sure yet how it will turn out, as I just discovered the error about 5 minutes ago. I sent a big roll of decorator fabric to someone who ordered a painting. At least I haven’t shipped the painting yet!!!
