Steven, I picked up THIS freebie at the dump the other day and it was all about the timing. I was tossing my trash into the compactor just as an old boy pulled up to offload some electronics. It was all he could do to pick this beast up and set it down on an old TV. Kenwood KR-9400, non-working but complete, heavy as @%$!

Steve – I recently bought & listed a sewing box just like the one you just sold; however, it isn’t quite as nice or in as good of condition. It doesn’t have the yarn hole or the detailing on the top. I priced mine lower, and it will sell eventually.

This is a 1967 Boy Scout Handbook. Normally these go for about $10, but I noticed that this one was signed by Joseph Brunton, the chief scout executive at the time. I don’t know if he was all that important, but he did have a Wikipedia entry. Bought for less than $2, sold for $19:

I bought a box lot full of vintage Fire King at an auction recently. I paid more than I normally would, but I knew these would sell. I am familiar with the green dinnerware called Jadeite, but I found that the blue stuff, called Delphite, is also desirable and seems a bit more rare. I paid about $2 for this set of 5 dinner plates; sold for $49.

Whenever I list my son’s old Cub Scout stuff, it sells very quickly. This listing consisted of items from his first grade or Tiger year. Sold for $26.

From reading all the retail arbitrage folks here on the forum, I know that Anthropologie is a big seller. I paid a bit higher than what I would normally pay for three dog plates at Goodwill recently for $6.40 each. The first to sell was this Whippet plate that I reduced a bit to $19 because of a rough area in the glaze I found after bringing it home.

Like Steve, I’ve sold a few older items recently. This is a vintage fire starter. It sold once to someone with a bad address, so I had to cancel and relist. Paid about $2, sold for $24.

Cool sales like always, Steve! I made a ton of sales myself last week. Here’s a few highlights…

I’ve taken a page out of your book and started selling parts off of audio equipment. This is a simple tone arm rest from a Technics SL-BD20 turntable. After I disassembled all of the important parts, I looked over the body to make sure I didn’t miss anything. I saw this piece and wondered if it was detachable. Sure enough, it came off with a simple unlocking twist. The turntable as a whole would have only brought me around $30 or $40 total. This piece I sold for $10 by itself. So far, I’ve sold $40 total from just 3 parts and I have a lot more to sell.

I picked these vintage Willson safety glasses out of a box lot. These individually only came to about $3. I didn’t think they’d be worth a whole lot, but I went against my instinct and priced them high. Sure enough, a couple weeks later I got a best offer of $50. Not bad at all!

Tis the season to sell vintage Christmas stuff. I acquired these Christmas tree motorized color wheels from an estate sale in town. There were up in this dirty attic where it was a million degrees. That’s probably why the plastic film was all messed up. I noted this and they sold overnight anyways for $45. I only paid $3 for them.

I wanted to mention this sale because it was peculiar. I had this wool floor runner listed for a couple months with not much interest. Then out of the blue, I get a best offer for $40. I wanted to do a little better so I countered at $50. The next thing I know, the buyer bought the rug at full price of $60. I don’t know what happened, but they paid and everything. So far there’s been no complaints. Makes me wonder if they even knew what they were doing.

I totally forgot to post my November sales video! My favorite is the horror movie VHS lot. Next time I find a bunch of rare horror like that I’ll up the price.

So an interesting week for me with the unfortunate fires nearby. I had to move some cloth items out of our garage because we actually had significant smoke INSIDE the closed garage. Crazytown. School’s cancelled and so are all my daughter’s extra performances, so time but not much listing until today I hope. Everyone is inside or wearing masks. We are still getting mail service and luckily the power is back on consistently.

I took a best offer of $75 on this rather rare French Plate I had a collector tell me she had never paid that much for a used plate except in Paris, yada yada, and inquired about the wear. I took her offer because I bought it for $1.99 and fingers crossed that she is not a terribly fussy buyer. It was up for a couple of months too so I’m ok with shedding my crazy price.

Promo Pyrex always good. Paid $8 at a moving sale with a lot of great midcentury stuff. Unfortunately had free shipping checked mistakenly.

I know Steve sold one of these Lord of the Rings Game on a video. Forgot what he got for it. I paid $10 at the amazing Indy Xmas boutique, sold for $60 and wanted it out of my guest room at holiday time.

Happy to get my money back on this shirt that I didn’t realize was slim fit and removed the tag before I figured out it wouldn’t fit my son or husband. Patagonia Tee Used Patagonia sells super quickly for me so far but I hardly ever find it thrifting now that I am looking for my growing son in the clothes. Our GW has serious clothing pickers due to its very high turnover rate. I went during the afternoon and found two like new Kuhl shirts for my son at $6 each. Literally right behind me was a whole group of fresh young pickers sounding like they might have come from out of the area. Score one for the old lady!

Midge is monogrammed with the hallmark of her breed, the Maine Coon ( the “M” on the forehead). We had one for 17 years, and they’re known for their similarity of the behaviors of dogs….we always referred to ours as “the cog (cat/dog)”. Great sales! Been on vacation myself, so none to share.
