I have scoured the internet and have found out that this is a Alvino Bagni for Raymor ceramic sculpture of a bull. But, what I am hoping you all can tell me is if I should list this on eBay or is there a better place to sell this item?
Every one of these I have found was either on pinterest or a gallery, with price NOT listed. Anyone have any idea what this might be worth? It seems rather scarce.
Thank you!-

Welcome Faoneybaloney .. check this link out and see if this is what you are speaking about. I did not see a link to a photo of your item but here are a couple of “SOLD” listings I found using a few of your key words. The cat sold for $925 in Aug. 2016, the Fish for $500 in May of 2016, and the “Bull” for $499.99 in March of 2014.
Hope these are what you are inquiring about and if so, hope this helps.

Thank you Mike!
I had trouble figuring out the photo hosting thing, but I think I have fixed it now. How are you able to see the prices? Very helpful, thank you!-

Amazing find! When I’ve listed Italian Raymor I have had immediate interest, particularly from the U.K. I would price high on EBay with best offer for what that’s worth.

You can see on 1st Dibs that another ceramic sculpture is listed for about $1000:
https://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/decorative-objects/sculptures/animal-sculptures/italian-alvino-bagni-glazed-ceramic-don-quixote-sculpture-raymor/id-f_7396203/I find that prices at 1st Dibs are always crazy and who knows if they get it. But it’s a good place to start.
eBay is as good as any place to sell art. $1000 is a lot of money, but it’s not uncommon for rare items that sell that high. Let us know what happens!

Hey Jay… That’s a neat web site. Never heard of it.. 1st dibs. I book marked it. Especially the Sol Lewitt section. I have about 10 prints he gave me when I did his poster print edition for him back in the 80’s for his show at the Wadsworth Athenium in Hartford, CT. I printed the poster run for him of approx. 150 posters. The poster run was an original silk screen print of all hand cut stencils and hand made screens which I did for him in our atelier workshop in West Hartford, CT., of which I got to keep 10% of the edition as part of my compensation. While they are poster prints for the show and not his signed limited pieces, they still have art value and I still think I will be pricing them in the $250 or so range with MAO.
Thanks for the site reference.

Wow. 15 posters at $250 is a great deal!
Yes, 1st Dibs is a fancy, cool art store. They have a huge gallery in Manhattan that’s fun to walk around and see design history.

1st dibs is a site where vetted dealers can list and sell their wares. The prices listed are generally way, way, WAY out of line with what we would be able to get on eBay, but it’s a good (not perfect) site for research and identification.
Your bull is a great find. I’ve found only lower-end Italian pottery pieces offered by Raymor – ashtrays, small vases, etc.

Thank you all for the insights! I will have to subscribe to worthpoint, looks like they have good reference info.
I am thrilled to the Bull is so valuable. I hemmed and hawed over this piece for awhile as the price was $10 and I could not make up my mind as to whether it was truly mid century or a knock off. I actually gave this to the clerk when checking out saying I was not going to buy it. I, of course, changed my mind and went back.
I am considering selling it on Etsy. I am afraid of getting scammed on Ebay if it has such a high price. I have never sold anything this pricey before.
Has anyone here been scammed on high ticket items? Thanks!

We’ve sold high priced items on eBay without issue. People sell cars, gold, art on eBay all day long everyday.
I do think that there are certain categories that might lend itself to more scams. Like electronics. But Steve Schultz (who does the Wednesday “what sold”) sells old electronics worth $1000+ on a regular basis.
Just curious, why do you think Etsy would be a safer place to sell high dollar items?

Very good point, Jay!
I was reading forum posts on a site somewhere that talked about the differences with selling on Etsy and EBay. I have never sold on Etsy, but am interested in trying it out. I have not had any truly horrible experiences with any buyer on eBay thus far, so I guess I should keep that in mind!
