I accidentally listed a pair of AG Adriano Goldschmied jeans the other night that I’d already listed a few weeks back (I’ve sold lots of this brand and the just got mixed up at some point). Oops. The next morning I see that both pairs had been purchased and paid for (that’s how I realized the mistake and that they were listed twice). I called Ebay to find out the best way to deal with this and they said to contact the seller and try to explain the situation and then cancel the entire transaction/listings. They said after that I could then relist the (one) pair of jeans for them to (re)purchase. I messaged them what happened, apologized, and offered to knock $10 off the price after I relist them for sale. Problem is they have not responded. This was noon Saturday (it’s Sunday afternoon). Last night I also emailed their actual email address outside of Ebay hoping they might see that instead. Still nothing. Tried calling…no answer. Tried texting the number but its a land-line. I am scared to just cancel the orders without talking to them first to smooth it over because I’m worried about receiving my first negative feedback, but doesn’t look like they’re going to answer my messages. Anyone been in this situation? Any advice on how to handle this?
Thanks!

Some buyers simply don’t communicate. They might not even notice that the item was cancelled. Weird but true. Your situation has happened to us.
We would just cancel and move on.

Jay (and Ryanne), let me ask you this. Instead of cancelling post listings and refunding his full payment for both. Should I just cancel the 2nd (accidental) listing and refund that one only? The person I spoke to yesterday at Ebay said that I would need to cancel both and relist them, but I wish I could just cancel the one and refund for that pair and be done with it. Hmmm.

I guess I’m confused. If you have one pair, then make sure one buyer gets a pair. That’s a good sale.
I;d cancel the second pair that was incorrectly listed. If you get a negative, then that’s just a result of a mistake. It happens. I bet the buyer who hasnt responded wont say anything as long as you promptly refund all their money so they can buy another pair.

Oh, I’m sorry…I might have explained it confusingly. I listed the jeans twice by accident and the buyer bought both of them (thinking I had two pairs). So I have one pair for him, but obviously don’t have the second pair. I’d just like to refund him the difference for the one pair and cancel the second accidental listing, but Ebay advises otherwise. Ultimately I guess I’ll need to do with they say I should do to avoid any problems, but it just seem necessary.

I would send him the one pair and refund him for the second pair.

Yeah, I’m afraid that’s what it looks like I’m gonna have to do. Hopefully, the customer turns out to be understanding and doesn’t stick me with a negative. It really sucks because I just started reselling again this past Oct. and I’m up for evaluation March 20th to move up to Top Rated. Hoping this doesn’t ruin that.

Welp. I cancelled it. Hope the buyer is understanding once he finally realizes what happened. Thanks for your help Jay!
