@always-a-trade-off-u-kHi from the U.K.
I am thinking of purchasing a Ipad Air 2 to streamline my listing process and thought I would post up the idea for your opinions. I currently use the Garage Sale App. for Macs. I like it mainly because they have their own image server which allows me to place photos directly into the description, as well as using ebays own image hosting. At the moment I use a MacBook Pro and a Bridge camera. I think that using the ipad for photos and listing via Garage Sale on it, I believe would streamline the process and speed up things considerably. Also is the Ipad capable of taking macro photos ?

I know some people only use an iPad to photo and list. Sounds like your process would work.

Depends what you’re taking photos of. The photos will be similar to what you get on a phone (or better). It’s fine for normal items. The only difficulty is doing fine close ups of detail.

Hi,
I started photographing my eBay items using an iPad mini retina. The standard camera app that comes with the iPad was acceptable and it could zoom in close enough to get a clear picture of clothing labels.
I found an app, which I can’t remember the name of sorry, that allowed white balance and some other features not included with the standard apple app. Look on the app store there were lots of them. Many free, I think I paid a small amount for the one I used.
I am now using an iPod 5 (I think, it’s around three years old now). Once you get used to it the pictures are fine. Again, I can get clothing labels close up and clear.
The iPad wasn’t working for me because it was too large for me to use easily as a camera. I bought a tripod with an adapter that the iPad fit in but I found that was too cumbersome to photograph my items quickly. I found it faster to move my camera (iPod/phone) than re-arrange everything else.
If you need super macro or other effects, Ollo clip sells snap on lenses for most iDevices and Android phones. https://www.olloclip.com/shop/ They are not cheap but less than buying another camera or device.

@always-a-trade-off-u-kGreat advice. I think I am going to try the Ipad – I am planning on getting a good used one. I dont think I could use a phone, its just too small for for me, I have hands like bananas !

Could someone please provide a link to the mentioned Garage Sale app? Couldn’t find it when I did a Google search. I could use something to help me speed up listing. I used to sell a lot through Amazon merchant, and miss how quickly it took to list on there 🙁

@always-a-trade-off-u-kI understand from the podcast that Jay has a new Ipad – I wonder if he will be trying listing/photographing with it ?

Maybe. I still like then phone for taking photos. The iPad is a little awkward to hold.

Will do. I wish there was a way to trigger the photo other than holding the iPad in one hand, and pushing the button on the screen.
