This is an interesting story, found at a thrift store for $10, I was really excited when I got it home and took it apart and saw that it was stamped 1946–I wanted a lot of money for it, until it was brought to my attention that the Pepsi-cola decal was almost certainly added much later, anyway I got $55 for it “as is” and was happy with that.
This watch was an attempt at pay more for higher sales and after a few months I took a best offer about 40% off where I started. I like the idea behind buying big ticket items, but selling the watches I got has been a learning experience to say the least. I’ll be happy when the 30 days after sale happens with no issues. Lots of stress for my small store. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Invicta-Reserve-Collection-14308-Bolt-Zeus-SW500-Automatic-Swiss-Movement-Steel/252638155697

Have to start here. For those of your that read the posts from Monday, this is old news. For those of you that haven’t, I picked these up on the third day of an estate sale with everything super picked over. Sitting on a table in a box, paid $20 for them. After researching, saw individually they could sell for big bucks if they were European language like French, German, and even Jewish recordings – presumably because they were destroyed after two World Wars. Didn’t look like I had anything like that, but common ones regularly sold for $5-$10. Put them up high to see what happened, and they sold for full price ($500) within 5 minutes of posting. They are en route now to outside of Seattle. I’ll feel much better when they arrive in one piece.

Another type of item I always pick up if cheap – old brass belt buckles. Sold for $25 best offer.

Nervous about this one. Took a best offer of $130 because it’s been sitting for a while, buyer still hasn’t paid. This is actually the second time it’s sold, and the buyer didn’t pay the first time either.
I have a nice copy of Dark Side, it has a minor warp though. Do people still buy them like that? Can you de-warp a record?
I like the album but I have it on 8-track as well.
Well, there’s a couple layers to record collectors that I’ve found. There’s ones that are just getting into records and want entry level stuff – good copy, no scratches, nice cover – and that’s probably what I specialize in. Then you have the audiophiles that NEED the most pristine versions and versions that might be directly from the master recordings (usually marked “MFSL” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_Fidelity_Sound_Lab). Then there are collectors that want the first pressings only – look at the deadwax in the middle and you’ll see a matrix of numbers/letters. Side One with A1 and Side Two with B1 at the ends are what you want for those guys. Even a warped record with A1/B1 could be worth it. Otherwise it would probably be a wall hanger if it had a really nice cover.
This was my best sale of the last week Fujinon vintage binoculors (they were given to me from my in laws who were cleaning out there house). Sales for me are like pulling teeth. Almost non existent i can go days now without sales(over 900 items in store)
I like that pantry box. I remember the video where Sheldon showed a firkin box (love the name), which he sold for hundreds of dollars. By the way, I don’t think that Sheldon has created a video or posted on this forum for a month or two. I miss his videos. I hope he is doing well.
Here are a few interesting sales of mine from the past week:
A buyer asked me to sell her these hand-painted candles for $30 including shipping. Once the sale went through, I found I could send them in a Regional A flat rate box, and I was able to get back close to my original asking price: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=182322332890
This is a very low priced sale of $10 including shipping for four vintage pins. The more interesting pin is a hula girl with a foot missing next to a palm tree. I found the feedback from the buyer to be really cute: “The amputee hula girl is a charmer.” http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=182435346292
Steve: I thought your projection screen find was interesting. A neighbor of mine moved, at least a year ago and he put two old projection screens out for the junk. I saw them and took them home. They were in fairly decent workable condition, but one was larger than the other. I assume he acquired the smaller one first and later bought the larger one many years ago (he is retired). I listed them both, but only sold one so far for I think $24.00. The other one refuses to sell even for $15.00, but I will leave it listed since I got it for free.
