Hi everyone,
I wanted to share a recent feedback situation and get your thoughts.
A buyer purchased some vintage computer parts from me. I always test these items before listing, and they were confirmed working. After receiving them, the buyer claimed the parts didn’t work as intended. I explained that it was likely a compatibility issue and asked a few questions to try and assist.
The buyer insisted the items were bad and opened a “Not as Described” return with photos. I approved the return right away, and once the items came back, I refunded the purchase. I even covered shipping both ways. And, Upon retesting there is nothing wrong with the parts.
Despite this, the buyer left me negative feedback saying I was “defensive and argued,” and that they sent pictures and never heard back from me. From my perspective, I responded promptly, approved the return, and issued a full refund.
During the week that the negative feedback was sitting on my profile, I noticed something interesting: with eBay’s new feedback changes (automatic feedbacks and the way they sort by relevant/recent), the negative never really showed up anywhere near the top of my feedback list. And My sales didn’t seem to be impacted at all.
A couple of days after the feedback was posted, I tried contacting eBay support to see if it could be removed. They attempted to call me back, but due to phone issues it went to voicemail, so I temporarily gave up, pretty frustrated.
Then, a few days later, I saw that eBay had completely removed the negative feedback — without me following up. I never received any email or notice from eBay about the removal. I just happened to check my profile and saw it was gone. I assume they reviewed the case themselves, since all the communication was in eBay messages and the return details clearly showed I handled things properly. Honestly, I was blown away.
While reviewing feedback removal options on the site, I had discovered where sellers can request a feedback review directly — though the link is hard to find. It seems eBay’s help pages use some kind of AI to surface different options depending on your browsing activity. I eventually found the link again and submitted a request for a neutral feedback I had received from another buyer who never contacted me and just left a neutral. That feedback was a little over 30 days old, so I wasn’t sure if eBay would even consider it. To my surprise, within one hour I got an email from eBay saying they had removed it as well.
Since I was on a roll, I decided to try the same process on my second store account. This time the neutral feedback was about 90 days old. I manage that store from a different computer, and when I went to the seller help pages I couldn’t find the link again. Luckily, I had the URL saved in my browser history, so I typed it in manually:
https://www.ebay.com/sellerhelp/feedback?id=4886
Because the feedback was older, it didn’t show up until I entered the eBay listing number. Once it pulled up, I went through the same process, explaining why the feedback wasn’t my fault. About an hour later, eBay removed this second neutral too — and this time they did send me an email confirming the removal.
So in the span of a 24 hours, I had three feedbacks removed:
– One negative (automatically, without notice)
– One neutral (a little over 30 days old, removed after review request)
– Another neutral (about 90 days old, removed after review request with listing number)**Tip for other sellers:** If you use the special link above, be prepared to enter the item ID or listing details, especially for older feedback that doesn’t show up automatically.
Has anyone else had similar experiences with eBay proactively removing feedback or with this hidden “feedback review” option? It feels like eBay is quietly improving this process, and I’d love to hear how others have navigated it.
If you have any luck with my link into ebay seller help, please post about it here.

Wow that’s awesome – thanks for sharing. I don’t have any right now – knock wood. Just finally got my TRS back this week after out of stock Christmas items last year cleared out. I’m very surprised to hear this since at Ebay Open, they did not mention anything like this. Also there was some Federal policy or new law discouraging removal of consumer feedback. I did notice that there is some kind of count of remaining feedback requests on my order page I think.
