I have a pair of very high end shoes that’s getting unbelievable attention. And never sells. They are a beautiful pair of Shell Cordovans by Alden. Since I also had a poor week, I’m seriously thinking of putting them up for auction. It seems counter intuitive to go to auction, but with this heavy amount of interest I’m leaning toward it. Yes, I could get stuck with the first bid, but I’ll start at a few hundred. I also am considering Make best Offer, but I wonder if the competition would work for me. Need to crank up the sales.

8000 views? seriously. that’s a ton. do you have link you’re willing to share?

There were a few times I had an item get a ton of views, but it was in the hundreds, not thousands. Twice it turned out that the items were in an Ebay-curated collection that was linked on the home page and the third item was something that a blogger had linked to.
I can’t even imagine a pair of shoes getting 8,000 views! I wonder if there’s a link to them in the Ask Andy forum or some other really active blog/forum.

Up to 8250 views. I got impatient and went with best offer. I’m starting to get nibbles and questions, and offers. It’s nice but why did I rate that number of views? It’ll probably sell this weekend from best offers, so I guess that’s better than waiting a week.
For everyone that thinks, “I never find anything like this,” these are the only pair of Aldens that I’ve ever touched. Got it the second day, markdown day, of an estate sale in a townhouse garage. Beats total sales of $65.

I got over 1000 views on a vintage 90s LL Bean fleece (i.e., polyester) top a few months back (sold for $30-$40), so 8000 views for excellent condition premium quality shell cordovan shoes doesn’t surprise me.

With that many views, I’d also guess these have appeared on a popular blog/website, or in an ebay Collection.

Sounds like the vintage back pack I’ve had listed since May. It’s had 5500+ views, and has 16 watchers. It’s had best offer on it from day one, and I’ve already sold a similar one listed around the same time, for a similar price.
It’s gotta go eventually, but I find it interesting.
Best of luck with your Aldens!

I’ve got a vintage melamine set of camping dinner ware that I thought somebody would be dying to buy and put in their retro camper. Almost 2 years and tons of price drops it has over 1,200 views and never even so much as an offer. I honestly don’t know why some items get so many lookers but I’ve never been able to equate the number of views with how quickly an item sells.

I had a vintage 1950s Christmas Santa Claus half apron a few months ago that got thousands of views. I thought something had to be wrong. I decided to change the thumbnail photo from a closeup of the pattern to a photo of the whole apron, thinking maybe people were mixed up about something. I never did figure it out. It sold for $35 with free first class shipping, having been up for 2 months. I got it for $1 at an estate sale. All I know is I’m rummaging through all the aprons now wherever I go.

And it SOLD! Originally I asked $499 and got tons of attention. Ran a 10% off sale. More attention at $450. No sale. Someone asked if I could go lower right before I added Best Offer. I moved the price up a hundred to $549 with BO and boom. The go-lower-guy comes in at $425 and I took it. Thinking I should net about $300. Yes indeed I sell used shoes. Where’s the next pair?

I’m glad this thread came up, and that your shoes finally sold for so much!
My backpack that’s been listed since last May, sold for full asking price (over $300) this morning to a GSP buyer. I bought it for $5 at a community yard sale last spring.
Patience pays! The early bird may get the worn, but the patient bird gets to “eat on” the leftovers for months to come.
