Zero listings for me last week. I’m still dealing with a serious family health issue, but hoping to get more clarity on it soon. Thank you to everyone for the good wishes, they are much appreciated.
I am hoping to do at least a tiny bit of listing this week. I don’t think I’ve posted a zero listing week for a very long time and it certainly has effected my sales in a negative way.
Wishing everyone a good week.

I listed zero again, but it is as expected due to my work on setting up the auction. However, I was kept very busy with my career job and getting ready for a Super Bowl get together at my house. I am up to 48 lots, so only six created in the past week.
VT – Stay strong, and I hope everything works out.
Amatino – Sending healing thoughts your way! Thank-you for keeping this thread going. I appreciate being able to talk about progress even when the progress is nothing to talk about!

40 listings for me this week. Trying to bank higher numbers so when I have zero weeks I still stay on track.
Amatino…sending you many healing thoughts. Know that when you aren’t able to post, you are still in our thoughts….always.
I really appreciate our little community here…I agree Sharyn. It’s important to me to check in once a week (or so) and also hear how everyone else is doing.
Just putting it out there that other people are always welcome to chime in. Now that it’s not a contest anymore, there’s much less pressure and please feel free to join in. Listing can be a lonely business, so it helps to chat about it!

Okay, I’m back, hopefully it will stick. Listed 4 last week which doesn’t seem like much, but is comparatively a big step forward.

Ugh I only listed 6 items last week.
I did also finish putting up some cross posting listings on Mercari that were auto loaded from Ebay. I have had a few Mercari sales of very cheap items I want to get rid of since they changed the fees after the new year. I’m cool with unloading my mistakes over there since I’ve already done the listing work. I earned enough to purchase something on Mercari I’ve been wanting for the house.
Have not been listing on District.net. Thinking about starting a curated Etsy store later in the year.
I have been suffering from RLS at night and insomnia but taking some vitamins that should help. I do feel a little bit of my Ebay mojo has gone. I’ve been listening to some podcasts while walking or driving to try to get motivated but it’s not helped too much. I know how important consistency is, but just feeling low energy. Still some family stuff to take care of too.
On the flip side I’ve been enjoying sorting my unlisted inventory. Lots of great items.

Welcome back JR!
We’re getting ready for a vintage show this weekend. It’s a show we’ve done before in downtown Portland and it was not well attended but the promoters are going back to where they used to have the show and where their customer base is, so fingers crossed that people show up.
We’ve signed up to do Live Auction shows on NikNax and are pretty excited about it. We’ll get our first one going weekend after next, and feature vintage books. Other sellers seem to do well on there so we’ll see what happens!
Christine I think you’d do really well on Etsy, especially if you tie in your instagram. You have a great curated style that I think would be very popular.

@vl good luck with your sales and Niknax lives! Ty I’m thinking of putting art, completed stitchery, and higher dollar decorative table or shelf decor on Etsy. The art on ebay doesn’t move if it’s an unknown artist. The whole free shipping thing is daunting.

5 for me last week. A 25% increase! 🙂

Welcome back junque redux!
13 new listings for me last week. Still dealing with a serious family health problem but finally moving towards a diagnosis, fingers crossed.
Wishing everyone a productive, happy and healthy week.

02/17/2025 at 11:35 am #105199
Nothing on eBay, but I’m up to 63 on my auction lots, so about 15 from last week.
-
02/17/2025 at 2:12 pm #105202
25 listings for the week.
We had fairly serious snow Thursday going into Friday so it put a damper on the weekend and sales were mediocre at the show…still was fun to do though.

Hey JR, good to see you again!
No new listings for me. However, I cleared out another whopping set of boxes filled to the brim with stuff. I didn’t count the items, I was just on a tear to clear out, but if I had to guess, I would say close to 200. I filled 4 boxes with donation items. One of the boxes was almost the width of the back seat of the car, for reference. Usually I sit and price each item before donating, but I’m so, so done with all the cheap ass junk I collected when I first started eBay. Instead I pulled it out and looked at it, almost a Marie Kondo version! Not “does this bring me joy” though, instead it was more of a “do I really want to photograph, list, store, and ship this sucker?” 🤣
I’m busy with taxes this week. I have to submit early because I’m afraid of having a whopping tax bill due to selling property, and once I have cleared the taxes, I need to shut down my husband’s page on Facebook. He wants to start cutting back on business, so I’m trying to reduce our online footprint. With luck, I’ll start listing again next month.
Wishing you all a wonderful week!

23 listings for me last week. I hope to maybe double that this week. @VL glad you enjoyed the show.
-
02/24/2025 at 10:00 am #105244
Only 1 listed last week *sigh* 🙁 Thanks to everyone for welcoming me back.
-
02/24/2025 at 10:09 am #105245
Only 1 is 100% more than I listed, JR! 😜😁
Happy Monday, y’all! I listed nada. I decluttered some more… I’m planning to get my taxes submitted this week so that I can start work again beginning March.
Wishing you all a great week.
-
02/24/2025 at 12:03 pm #105246
Zero on eBay, but I’m up to 82 on my MaxSold auction. That’s 19 since last week. Not bad!
I haven’t done much on the taxes front, and I need to start!
-
02/24/2025 at 1:54 pm #105247
13 listings last week. A bit less than I hoped but worked on other things instead.
-
02/24/2025 at 2:39 pm #105248
20 for me, I feel good about that number under the circumstances.
Still waiting for a diagnosis on the family health issue but we’re finally hooked up with a great hospital so I’m feeling more confident about the care at least.
Wishing good things for all.

02/26/2025 at 10:44 am #105252
I listed 16 items on eBay and started turning on some more waiting drafts in Mercari. I’ve had a few sales on Mercari, which is nice. The fee changes they reversed have definitely helped. Also all the pictures and most of the data imported from eBay, so I’m able to do this on my phone while I’m just hanging around. Still not putting higher end items on that platform because of their customer service Cutbacks.
I can’t believe it’s almost March! I had some really nice time with friends over the weekend in our beautiful city. It was up to 70 degrees again with no wind. One of my younger friends turned 50. My daughter is also struggling a bit with growing pains and needing more of my time. I have no idea where the beginning of the year went. It’s an insomnia blur. I have to do my cost of goods for taxes very soon, which puts a stop to everything else for a couple days. Hoping to just do a bunch of organizing and some listing today. eBay as dead as a doornail for me this week.
@VT Good care is so important and having a family advocate. I hope things improve.
@VL I was not going to do live sales yet, but I got accepted to a bigger local sale that only runs quarterly and it should have a better mix of buyers both young and older. So I’m going ahead and doing it on March 15. I think I am pretty much just bringing the art this time and it’s only a 7 x 7 but I have a lot of organizing to do. Pretty exciting.
My son was just accepted to Tufts university for graduate school. 🎉 I think we are going to go to Boston around the weekend bridging their spring breaks. Better get to work!
Thanks for checking in everyone. I’ve met a lot of nice resellers and vendors locally but still working this business on the computer is so quiet.

Congrats to your son, Christine!
-
02/28/2025 at 8:57 am #105260
ty! so excited for him. I’m not sure what he will do just yet but getting accepted there is a real shot in the arm. My husband and I are hoping he chooses to go.

Congrats on your son’s accomplishment Christine! That’s very impressive!
I also want to express how grateful I am for our little community here. I don’t personally know any eBay sellers who live near me. It’s great to have people to communicate with who understand this business, and who also have empathy for any personal life struggles. Thanks everyone!

Hi, I doubt anyone would remember me. I posted here a few years ago. I periodically read here to keep motivation to keep listing. My husband and I bought a couple of storage units the day before Thanksgiving and we’re still going through inventory.
Anyway, thanks for keeping this thread going. I’ve gotten 63 items listed this week. I’m going to have a piece of cake and try to find some more motivation to list tonight (I’m so over this crap in my garage).
-
03/01/2025 at 2:40 am #105265
Hi Liz! Nice to hear from you. I’m impressed by 63 listings and I so hear you about your garage….for me it’s my carport.
I join VT in mentioning how grateful I am for our little community. It definitely spurs me on and I too appreciate the kindness shown by everyone.
And Liz? Most importantly…what kind of cake?
-
03/01/2025 at 8:07 pm #105266
Vanilla bundt cake with chocolate chips!
Alas, it did not motivate me to list anything else. I cheated and did end/sell similar on a bunch of listings since it was the last day of the month, and I had unused listings available for my store. It worked though! I had 4 sales today from that action.

20 new listings for me.
I had an interesting week on eBay: A few days ago my active listings dropped by about 100 listings. I remember that a few years ago many sellers had listings disappear from eBay, but luckily I wasn’t one of those sellers back then. Within a day or two my active listing number was back to (or at least near) where it should have been. It makes me think about my choice to post directly to eBay where I have no backup if listings are lost. Something I need to think about.
Should finally be getting a diagnosis on the health issue today. Fingers crossed.

03/03/2025 at 4:05 pm #105270
Congrats Christine! We did our second Niknax auction yesterday and sold 6 items, which is encouraging. I’m told it takes a little time to build up a following, so we’re hoping that our weekly auctions keep building.
Liz…that cake sound delicious!
VT… last week my husband went through his listed books on his shelves and discovered that at least 20 weren’t listed anymore. There’s certainly wonky stuff with ebay for sure.
19 listings for me. But more importantly, we completely organized the carport. Last year when I was so sick for several months things kept getting dumped in there until it was a mess. So Saturday we were fortunate to have a nice sunny day and we pulled everything out to the driveway…..sorting it as we went, set aside several boxes for donation, and put it back in, nice and neat and very very organized. It was a beast of a job, but very satisfying and now we can process it much more quickly. Whew.

03/03/2025 at 9:09 pm #105273
I’m at 91 lots in my auction, so I’m very close to my 100 lot goal. I also want to get the whole auction completed by the March 22 weekend, so I’ll need to finish up in a few days so that I get get everything reviewed and started next week.
Y’all are dealing with illnesses, kids, eBay organization, and life. It’s a crazy way of living, but it can be fun. I’m grateful for this little slice of the internet where we can inspire each other and talk out our challenges. I’m hoping everyone has a great week listing, organizing, or planning for the next big challenge.
-
03/03/2025 at 9:26 pm #105275
Also, I’ve been finding a number of items that I had in my inventory that were not listed. I’m sure some were user error, but some were definitely dropped by eBay. For the most part, I’m choosing to put them in my auction and not relist, but I do have a few I will get back up there.

@VT thinking positive thoughts for you. @Sharon great job getting your auction going. It might actually be good to get stale listings out of your Ebay store in the long run… Of course they want you to put new ones in all the time. @Liz hello!
On one of my Ebay podcasts they said Ebay acknowledged that has an annual problem because February has fewer days and there are more resets at once. The listing disappear but then it gets resolved in a day or two. However, I do think a few listings tend to drop off now and then.
So yesterday I moved out about 15-17 boxes of clothing, board games, books etc. Some of the clothing would have been worth money at pop ups or online but I hate selling clothing online and I don’t have room in my car for taking clothing also, plus everyone and their mother at pop ups sells clothing. So that felt really, really good to get out of the garage and house and off my plate.
Now I have a huge mess to tackle. Lots of art and frames that need to be cleaned, sorted, marked for projects. Unlisted inventory (maybe a good 8-10 boxes and bins) to be sorted and organized (sadly there is more unlisted that is already organized by type). I definitely did cut back on thrifting and I’m having a chat with myself about getting my business house in order and more profitable. I’m also more aware of frittering my time in general. Not really structured but steps in the right direction. There is a lot of value unlisted here – they are just piles, not picked over death piles. Logically, I would start with the largest and most valuable items, but somehow I just start grabbing things. I do have a loose goal of working in some textiles to make shipping a little more balanced each day.
-
03/06/2025 at 2:57 pm #105292
Twinsies, Christine! Although.. I didn’t move out clothing, I cleared hard goods. Not only from my DPs but from my store too! As Dearest Hubby says, if it hasn’t sold in 9 years, is it going to sell now? Tbh, it felt fantastic to get rid of all that dead weight! At a guess, I’d say another 400+ items have left the property. When I first started eBay, I began with shoes and men’s clothes and I think I want to return to start. Plus sewing machine parts, because of the hubs.
Taxes were submitted, so now I need to get back to eBay!
-
03/07/2025 at 8:16 am #105294
Sounds like everybody is cleaning out and organizing. 👏👏👏
@VL I forgot to mention that I only have BIN on Niknax and VAMP. It’s really dead over there. Once in a while I get to send an offer. Seems like mainly a live platform. I have notifications off on district but lmk your handle and I’ll try to catch a show.
-
03/08/2025 at 12:04 pm #105297
Christine…I would agree that Niknax is primarily all about auctions. I’m not putting any effort to listing on there unless it’s something I’ve already had in an auction, as it’s good to show potential followers the kind of things you sell. We just switch the items from “auction” to “buy it now”. It mainly seems to be about jewelry and collectible glass like Fenton. People go nuts for the glass. That’s not really something I want to get into selling and having to ship. I have a phobia about shipping glass!
While I was organizing the carport I ran across a large box of jewelry left over from when I had my brick and mortar shop. It’s all costume jewelry, fun pieces I picked up extremely cheap at the Atlanta Wholesale market and I’m going to hopefully get rid of it this way. I’m going to have a Spring Bling Fling jewelry auction next weekend. Our shop name is Penelope’s Hope Chest.
-
03/10/2025 at 10:30 am #105310
@VL I don’t have a lot of glass either. I usually pick up only Scandinavian glass, which is hard to find here and it sells fine on Ebay. I do have my family’s costume jewelry hanging around. Totally not my thing. Are you selling BIN jewelry over there? I imagine it’s fairly saturated by now. I will ship glass – my secret is dish packing foam from Uhaul. Never double box.
I listed 25 items this week, plus added a few imported drafts to Mercari.
-
03/10/2025 at 11:02 am #105312
I’ve got 104 lots completed for my auction, and that will be it. Last week I was up to 91, so that is 13 completed in the past week. My work now will be to get it all set up with MaxSold.
Glass has to be special to even consider listing. I have my longest listed glass in the auction. If it doesn’t sell, I will give it away. In general, everything I buy here on out needs to be in the $25 and up range. If I buy an auction lot just for a couple of items that are worth more, then everything else needs to be freecycled. No listing stuff just because I think it’s cool!
I hope everyone has a decent enough week. I don’t think I’ll be focusing much on eBay until April sometime. In the meantime, I have the auction, taxes, and organizing the basement.
-
03/10/2025 at 11:40 am #105314
@VL “Spring Bling Fling” LOVE IT! 😻
@Christine What is this magic you speak of? I must check out this dish packing foam. I have a lot of glassware but, alas, I suspect it’s not worth a bean.
@Sharyn I am totally with you! It’s hard not to hang onto things that seem cool.I got rid of another couple hundred items and I feel so freeeeeee! LOL. I know my numbers sound ridiculous, but I literally had enough DPs to list every day for a year and not run out. Plus I had hundreds of items in my store. Now I’m below 400 in my store and have free space on one* shelf. Unheard of, I tell you!
This week I listed one! Yep, one whole listing. That’s 100% more than I’ve listed all year, so I did brilliantly! 🤣
Wishing you all a wonderful week.
*You did notice it’s only on one shelf, didn’t you? ;o)
-
03/10/2025 at 2:35 pm #105315
30 listings for the week. Concentrating on DP items right now, although my focus this week will be shifting to Brookhaven, as it’s coming up fast.
Watched some of the Crazy Lamp Lady show on Niknax yesterday. Very educational. She has a HUGE following…over 700 people were watching her live show. She had 60 pieces for auction…lots of higher end glass and pottery pieces and people were bidding like crazy. Most pieces had 3-4 pre-bids before she even started. She easily sold several thousand dollars worth. Good for her! It was really impressive.
That being said, it takes a lot of time and effort to build that kind of following and I just don’t need another thing on my plate. I also don’t have enough knowledge. The money is there, if you know what you are doing. We’ll just keep plugging away, much more low key. Christine, I am not doing BIN jewelry on there. Just the live auctions. We’re having some issues with our listings…the website is very clunky and not easy to get things right.
Y’all are working it! Keep up the good work! Everyone is getting so much done!
Sending good wishes to everyone for a productive and peaceful week ahead.

03/10/2025 at 4:40 pm #105316
There have been a number of posts about Crazy Lamp Lady on this forum over the years. I did watch a few videos in the past to see what it was all about. She obviously has the personality and knowledge that brings in people. They are not just liking her stuff; they are buying into her story and feeling like they are part of it. From the videos I watched (not recent), her stuff was not that high end.
While it’s great what she’s accomplished and how she is making an incredible salary over this, but it definitely takes a certain person. Being mostly an introvert, I’d probably tank. Maybe squeeze out a living where I could eat most days LOL. I don’t know if I could hack it.
-
03/11/2025 at 9:28 am #105320
I’m an extrovert but super camera shy. I’d have to do it with only my hands. I hear that you have to be really consistent to get traction live selling and it takes a while to get a following. It’s not somewhere I want to invest my time. It would be nice to get multiple sales st once though of course.

24 new listings for me. I’m still dealing with serious family health issues and will be doing so for the next few months at the very least.
Lovely to hear everyone is clearing out/listing/doing auctions etc. Good work!
Wishing everyone a great week.
-
03/11/2025 at 9:34 am #105321
@VT so sorry to hear about your circumstances.
@Amatino it’s just dish packing foam. I use that and then large bubble. The only times in the past I had something break is before I used the foam and when I used too small of a box. I ordered some from Amazon before but it’s thinner so I like the uhaul. Miraculously I found a HUGE roll at a thrift store that will last months. I hate that it’s not biodegradable but paper would be much more expensive and it helps me use less bubble. Hopefully customers are reusing. -
03/11/2025 at 1:37 pm #105324
I agree Sharyn with your insights about the Crazy Lamp Lady. She’s worked really hard to build her brand and people buy things because it’s her. As both an introvert AND camera shy it’s been especially challenging for me. I do live Facebook sneak peeks before every preview night at Brookhaven and that has helped me gain some confidence and customers do comment how much they like it. We also have been working to build our brand on Youtube and that again is a challenge for me, but I also think it’s good to push myself out of my comfort zone. I’m much happier NOT being on camera and just making commentary. We are working and have worked on having several income streams, so if one goes under we won’t be struggling. We’ve done very well selling on Amazon over the past 18 years, but the rug could be pulled out from under us at any moment, so there’s always that fear. I’m going to share a cautionary tale on a separate post.
-
03/11/2025 at 1:57 pm #105325
As I mentioned, we do quite well selling on Amazon and it provides about 40% of our income. However, in my opinion, Amazon does NOT care about it’s sellers and even having a flawless record doesn’t count for anything.
The bulk of our Amazon sales come from an artist who makes figurines and a company reproduces those figurines in China, using specialty painters…they are all handmade and quite detailed. Her figures have a huge following and I sell thousands of them every year. There are several of us who sell them on Amazon, and last year one of them tried to put me out of business, by buying one of the figures from me and then telling Amazon that I was selling counterfeit figures. Amazon takes the accusation of counterfeit VERY seriously (as they SHOULD) and I was immediately placed on notice of having my account closed. It was terrifying. I have been buying from this particular company for over 20 years, and have become good friends with the Vice President and she’s always had my back. She immediately went to battle for me and forced the other seller, who also buys from her company, to withdraw the complaint. It was a terrible few days as it all played out but in the end the accusation was taken off my account and I was back in good standing. On a side note, the company decided not to do any more business with this seller who had accused me, as it was malicious.
The whole mess really shook me up and made me double my efforts to work on other income streams, as one never knows when something outside our control can completely shut things down. You can give the best customer service in the world, or at least try, and it still doesn’t matter in the end.

03/11/2025 at 10:19 pm #105326
I read an article a number of years ago about how this can happen. At one time, Amazon got rung out in the media because of how many sellers were selling fakes or copies of another company’s products. Amazon toughened up its rules, but then sellers were taking advantage of the process to get rid of their competition. Amazon is very hard to contact especially wrt the seller help. People were pushed off Amazon with no way to fight it.
I wasn’t sure if this sort of thing was still happening but having someone in your corner is definitely a huge help. I’m glad you were able to get out of it quickly.
Having several streams for business has definitely been a big topic here over the years. After all, Jay and Ryanne have grown several lines of business, and they have been very successful at it. Since I have a part time career job, I haven’t bothered trying out different avenues other than adding in Etsy.
I did watch your You Tube videos when you posted them (a year or two ago), and they were really nicely done. I’m sure you’ll do well in building that brand for yourself!

Wow, VL, that is horrible! How lucky you were that the VP had your back AND canned the other seller. Now that’s karma!
I’ve heard of folks losing their eBay and Etsy businesses, as well as Amazon, with similar underhanded tactics from competitors. It sucks! My husband’s website was closed down because one of those “we’ll amp up your website” callers reported us as scammers when we refused to work with them. The guy actually told me he would shut us down as he hung up on me! Asshat! Too bad for him that our business is about 95% word of mouth, so I just shrugged and started over.

18 listings for last week. Thank you Sharyn for the compliment! We’re in Brookhaven mode now, but still trying to get a few listings done.
The biggest news is that my dad died on Sunday. While I will miss him a lot, it was truly a blessing because he was really suffering. We had a chance to say our final farewells, and our journey with him is over. I have lots of great memories to treasure and I am doing well….just glad he is free and at peace.

Oh, Vintage Lacy my condolences on your Dad passing. While sometimes it’s a blessing for a loved one to go and be at peace, it’s still hard because you’ll miss them. Sending you a virtual hug.
20 new listings for me last week. There’s so much going on here I forgot to post. My hubs surgery date is still a month away, which is what happens when you want the best surgeon, they’re really busy and booked up.
Wishing everyone a great rest of this week!

@Vintage-Lacy – I am so sorry to hear of your father’s passing My condolences to you and your family. I am sure you are grateful for the time and memories that you have of him.
Did we totally space on posting our numbers this week? I have my excuse of being focused on the auction which, coincidentally, just ended. It wasn’t great, it wasn’t bad, but I’m getting lots of stuff out of the house.

Hi all. I’m so sorry about the hard things some of you are going through. Take good care of yourselves.
I’m on vacation and it was a crazy week before I left. I haven’t really listed much in a couple weeks and it’s been a horrible month of sales.
The pop up booth was worth it. It will be quarterly and was well attended with a lot of foot traffic. I didn’t feel well prepared but I’m getting the hang of it and didn’t pack as much unnecessary stuff. https://www.instagram.com/p/C4HMKM9vDjF/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==
After posting this reel I was accepted to a new fancy market 4/12. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DE8T-3FS_jq/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==
I’m quite nervous that I bit off a little more than I can chew. My goal is to get rid of some larger art and hopefully some decor at this one. It’s nice because I get to set up the day before BUT my husband will be working and I’ll have to rent a van. Plus it was fairly expensive. Since I don’t have furniture to sell I hope it’s profitable. I’ve never been to this one, it’s only 2x a year and 45 minutes away. But people seem to enjoy art and I can swing farmhouse with some of my decor. I have a lot of prep and organizing to do, plus my COGS for taxes.
@VL what have I done!? Feel free to share advice. Also I gave up on cute hanging stamped price tags and started using stickers. It’s a lot faster. It’s nice after set up they host a farm to table dinner for the vendors to network.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes about my dad. I’m doing well.
10 listings for me last week. Brookhaven is just a week away from set up so that’s my main focus now. We’ve put our Niknax auctions on hold until after the show.
Christine I am very excited for you! Looks like a great opportunity and you have already learned so much from your other booth. You know, we rent a smaller Uhaul truck for our Oregon City show and it’s well worth it. I would most certainly bring all your higher ticket items and very unique pieces. It also looks like a great opportunity to network and get your name/brand more out there. You probably have already thought of this, but since you set up on one day and sell the next day, bring sheets to cover everything overnight. Keeps off the dew and everything neat and tidy until you return the next day. You’ve got this! It’s going to be awesome.

Glad to hear you are doing okay VL. And Christine it’s amazing how much you’ve accomplished with new selling venues in just a few short years. I think VL has been a great mentor to you!
I had 20 new listings last week. I’m attempting to get my 20 listings up ASAP during the week and then I work on my sewing for the remainder of the week. I’m selling doll clothing that I make on eBay along with my thrifted treasures now. I love to sew and the creativity of it, and it’s a great distraction for me right now.
Wishing everyone a wonderful week!

Hi, just checking in. I’ve been gone all month helping a family member recover from surgery so nothing done for ebay. Hoping to get back on the wagon this week.
VL, sorry to hear about your father. I’m glad he’s no longer suffering.
Hope everyone has a productive week.
-
03/24/2025 at 6:24 pm #105361
Nothing for me, but the auction is over, and I’ll have more time. However, I’ve got lots going on this week, so I will probably post zero next week.
Christine – I took a look at your Instagram, and you really find neat items. I think you’ll do well. Either the stuff I find here in the ‘burbs are too mundane and you live in a neat, small city where style is a bigger deal or you just keep your focus more narrow. Reality is probably a combination of both. Going forward, I’ll need to narrow my focus, so I can certainly learn from you.
VL – I’m glad you are doing well, and I know you love your Brookhaven. Do we get another video this year?
VT – I used to sew as a kid. I can’t remember, but either my mom or I made clothing for a doll once. Sounds like fun, and even better if it keeps your mind off life’s issues. I hope your husband is doing well enough.

03/25/2025 at 10:10 am #105364
@thanks everyone. Sharon we have amazing picking here for sure. If I let myself go to more estate sales the quality will just go up. Alas, have much accumulated inventory to get through.
its a bit hard to price for shows, especially art. VL do you use a fraction of eBay solds ? People are buying on impulse and my buyers are younger where I normally sell. Not sure the customer base for this next event but I’m hoping there are LA people there as they are used to paying up.
-
03/31/2025 at 7:26 am #105375
0 for me last week. I picked up some contract work and have been busy with that instead of ebay.
-
03/31/2025 at 9:20 am #105376
20 new listings for me last week.
I find it odd that sometimes 20 listings takes me two days to accomplish and sometimes it takes me all week. Last week it took all week. I’m hoping for only two days of listing to get 20 up this week – it’ll be a busy week outside of eBay.
Wishing everyone a wonderfully productive week!
-
03/31/2025 at 12:23 pm #105378
Zero listings for me. Completely in Brookhaven show mode now.
Hope everyone has a great week!
-
03/31/2025 at 2:51 pm #105379
Zeros for me last two weeks. I’m just trying to get my orders out.
@VL hope you have a great market.
-
03/31/2025 at 9:20 pm #105383
Zero listings for me. In addition to finishing up the auction, we went on a short trip from Thurs to Sun. I will list something this week, but it might not be much.
-
04/01/2025 at 12:55 pm #105388
How funny….zero listings for everyone except VT. Go VT!
Thanks Christine…I have an exciting show planned. Hopefully people respond and spend money! I price what I think the market will bear…it depends on the show. I do look at Ebay solds, but I also look at how fast do I want a particular piece sold? How fragile or heavy or awkward is it? People pay higher at the Oregon City show but some of them want to dicker so I certainly mark up for that particular show. Brookhaven is more mid-level…some collectors, but more customers just want something nice to put in their homes and pay accordingly.
-
04/02/2025 at 8:40 am #105390
Thanks @VL. Pricing is definitely an art. I’m definitely considering those same things but often don’t take the time to look on eBay first.
Right now I’m a bit more interested in having a successful market day than getting top dollar. Very much interested in moving larger pieces out. Last time some younger people did not move on things maybe because of price (2 left and came back) but I did have a couple of brick and mortar dealers scoop up multiple things, which I’m totally ok with. So maybe I’m sort of on the lower end but it’s also fun to share the finds.
I’d like to see if people would pose with their choices for my Instagram but it’s not really my style to ask that of them. I hate having my picture taken. Maybe if they are really chatty and excited I will. The clothing sellers do that all the time.
-
04/07/2025 at 1:58 pm #105462
Finally, I can report that I listed 7 items! One item sold within 24 hours.
I still have a smaller, but large enough, pile of things that need to be listed. Either I bought them last year and didn’t list them before I started working on the auction, or I decided not to put them in the auction for some reason. I’ll be busy for a while, but I can scavenge if I’m careful. I don’t have the storage space I used to have.
-
04/07/2025 at 2:58 pm #105464
20 new listings for me. Again it took me most of the week to do it but at least I got it done.
Wishing everyone a wonderful week!
-
04/15/2025 at 9:24 pm #105493
I listed seven items again this past week. I also sold seven items, so I’m staying even.
I might be able to list a bit more than seven this week because I have a set of dishes that I am planning to break up into about 11 listings.
-
04/16/2025 at 8:16 am #105497
20 new listings for me last week, which took me the entire week with a push on Sunday to finish. Unfortunately I seem to be listing slower rather than faster – lol!
I have a lighter social schedule this week so hopefully I’ll complete my eBay work before Sunday this week. This may be the last serious listing week I’ll have for a while as my husband’s surgery is next Wednesday.
Wishing everyone a productive week!
-
04/20/2025 at 3:10 pm #105502
Zeros for me. Hope to get back at the computer this week before guests arrive. Sending healing thoughts for your husband VT.
-
04/21/2025 at 8:40 am #105505
Thanks Christine, that’s much appreciated!
20 new listings for me. I’ve hatched a plan to (hopefully) keep up with my listings this week even though I’ll be at a hotel near the hospital for 5 days. Fingers crossed for everything going smoothly.
-
04/21/2025 at 9:59 am #105506
I listed 13 items. They were all from a set of dishes, so it was easy to sell similar with minimal research.
VT – Sending good wishes and prayers for your husband, and to you for strength.
-
04/21/2025 at 11:06 am #105507
Wow, it’s been a minute since I last posted. I’m thrilled that you are all still keeping it going. We have built our own little community in this community, haven’t we? 😁
I’ve listed a couple things over the past few weeks, but have been very much “off” eBay this year. So much else trying to get sorted, plus trips almost every week to doctors who are all 80-odd miles away, chomps away at my time. I’m getting to the end of “sorting” though, so hopefully I’ll pick up my eBay mojo and get going again.
Wishing you all a fantastic week. Good luck to Lacy for your show, and to VT for your husband.
-
04/25/2025 at 12:56 am #105570
VT….sending many good thoughts to you and your husband and your family. Hopefully everything is going well.
Our Spring show was down 10% from last year, which isn’t surprising considering what’s going on right now with tariffs and the stock market. Another show the same week was down over 30% so I guess we are lucky we weren’t down so much! It was a fun show, however, and went very smoothly. It’s all we can hope for right now. I did do a video and maybe I will post it next week.
Back on board with 15 listings for the week. Already have more than that this week, so things are clicking along.
-
04/28/2025 at 1:55 pm #105572
26 listings for me last week.
Hit a rummage sale Saturday half an hour before they closed and scored big…they didn’t advertise it so there was tons left and they were desperate to move it…we ended up with half a van full for $11.
Sending good thoughts your way VT…and hope everyone has a good week ahead.
-
04/28/2025 at 4:02 pm #105573
I listed four.
I was planning to go to two rummage sales this past weekend, but they were rained out. They were both rescheduled to days when I have plans. I could go to the one on May 18 if I get there early and then go to where I need to be at 11 AM.
There is a rummage sale next Sunday right around the corner from my house, and I’m sure I’ll find more to go to. I haven’t bought anything in a long time.
With my part time job growing in hours, I’m not putting the effort in eBay as much. My sales have suffered, but I know that sales are slow in general. I’m sure everyone is doing much better than me!
-
04/29/2025 at 10:04 am #105580
Thanks for the good wishes everyone. My hubs was released from the hospital yesterday and is doing okay. We’ll find out next steps this Thursday.
I only listed ten items last week, despite my good intentions. It was quite a week and I just couldn’t manage more than that. We’ll see how things pan out as far as listing this week, but if I only manage ten again I’ll be okay with that.
Wow, I’m so envious hearing about the great rummage sales that are out there! I rarely find any in my part of the country but maybe I’m just not looking in the right places for them.
Wishing everyone a healthy and happy week.
-
05/05/2025 at 10:16 am #105602
I listed two items. I am still working on the death piles, but I did get to some yard/rummage sales this weekend. My number will be higher next week.
@VT – I am so glad your husband’s surgery went well! I wish him good luck in his recovery.
Good luck to everyone!
-
05/05/2025 at 10:47 am #105603
Thanks Sharyn!
I managed 14 new listings last week.
I’ll be giving myself a break with how many listings per week I expect to accomplish this summer. I’m content with whatever weekly numbers I can manage while my husband gets through his treatment plan.
Wishing everyone a great week!
-
05/05/2025 at 12:25 pm #105604
5 listings for me last week. Had both bronchitis and a trip to the beach…one definitely a lot more fun than the other. All’s well now, though and planning another fun picking trip this coming weekend.
Happy May everyone…wishing y’all a good week ahead.
-
05/13/2025 at 2:25 am #105626
Zero listings for me last week but we did have great fun on a picking trip to the Sacramento Antique Faire last weekend, where we scored over 35 vintage books for a buck each, plus lots of fun other treasures.
-
05/13/2025 at 9:20 pm #105628
Six listings for me last week. I seemed to have caught some type of cold, so I’m not sure what I will get done this week.
-
05/14/2025 at 8:14 am #105629
15 new listings for me last week. Like Sharyn I’ve caught a bad cold so not sure how many I’ll manage this week.
-
05/19/2025 at 7:21 pm #105649
Sharyn, I hope you’re feeling better. Unbelievably I’m still sick with my cold, this is day 8. Due to that I only managed 10 listings last week. Not sure this week will be any better but fingers crossed!
Wishing everyone a healthy and productive week!
-
05/19/2025 at 7:30 pm #105650
Ten listings for me last week.
There’s a weird phenomenon going here locally this Spring. The volume of garage sales has decreased dramatically, week to week, compared to other years. There’s just not as many as usual and it’s very strange. It’s not weather related because there’s been sunny weekends. My brother in Colorado Springs says he’s noticed it there also. Anyone else noticed this…and any theories?
Hope y’all get over your colds!
-
05/20/2025 at 3:19 am #105653
People aren’t buying new stuff, so they aren’t getting rid of their old stuff.
I don’t hit a lot of garage sales because I live out in the sticks, so I can’t say whether there are more or less of them than previous years. But I wouldn’t be surprised if people are choosing to hold on to what they have rather than buy new.
-
-
05/19/2025 at 8:29 pm #105651
I listed two items.
I’ve been switching between garage sales and auctions over the years, so I can’t talk to year over year. However, I’ve been busy with all of my volunteer activities the last few weekends, and I haven’t been able to go to many. I believe there has been a reduction in online auctions (MaxSold) in my area.
My cold was just enough to feel miserable, but not bad enough to call sick from work. I did work from home last Wednesday. I still have congestion, but I’m mostly over it. I was good (bad) enough of a mother to share it with my daughter and son. My husband was the only one not affected.
-
05/22/2025 at 10:16 am #105660
Hello there. I’ve been all over the place and doing anything but listing on Ebay.
I plan to list hard this Memorial Day weekend but my husband wants to get my college son’s car back in the garage so tons of work to do there. Ugh.
Reminder to bargain hunters that now is the time to shop Memorial Day sales with most retailers for the best selection.
-
05/26/2025 at 9:41 am #105684
Happy Memorial Day!
20 new listings for me last week. I’m still sick with my cold which I’ve been told by a pharmacist is a three week cold. I’m on day 15 now – yikes!
Wishing everyone a great holiday!
-
05/26/2025 at 12:31 pm #105693
I listed three.
I just have the sniffles now. It would have been gone had the weather not turned to unseasonably cold with days of rain. It appears to be warmer now, but rain is predicted for this week.
I hope everyone has a great day and a good week of sales!
-
05/27/2025 at 3:22 pm #105699
37 listings for me last week. Hit the death piles hard and donated a minivan worth of stuff. Much much more work to do but feel like I’m getting somewhere finally, at last. I hope I’m not jinxing myself by saying that!
Hope everyone gets to feeling better and has a good week.
-
06/02/2025 at 12:56 pm #105752
15 listings for me last week. More importantly, finished the carport, once and for all. This was a long time in the coming but well worth the effort. It’s amazing what you find in the death piles. Some really good stuff for sure. And we took two more car loads to donate. A very productive week all the way around.
-
06/09/2025 at 9:23 am #105778
@VL congrats! That’s a huge accomplishment and I’m sure it feels good.
Confession time: my husband has had it with the current state of the garage. As I mentioned we were super busy and though my Ebay inventory is all organized, the pop up market stuff just landed in the car space. So I got back to work organizing and I’m putting myself on a flea market only buying hiatus until I have some of this stuff cleared. I declare it summer of sales!
I also did a sell similar reset today, so hopefully I can get some money coming from Ebay. I’m going to see how the reset does and then run a deep sale on my used inventory. My next pop up isn’t until June 21 thankfully.
Jury duty today. Hoping to be excused early as they usually ding the lawyers.
-
06/22/2025 at 2:32 pm #105818
Congrats on getting your carport done. What an achievement!
-
-
06/02/2025 at 1:46 pm #105753
Congrats VL on getting your carport work completed! I’m on a complete no thrifting ban at the moment and I’m digging into my DPs to list from (finally!). I’m hoping to make a real dent in my DPs this summer.
I listed 20 items last week.
Wishing everyone a wonderful week!
-
06/02/2025 at 6:36 pm #105756
I listed nada last week. All my unlisted items require some kind of cleaning or repair. I have all these plans, but nothing yet.
VL & VT – Those are great numbers! Keep it up!
I did my downsizing in my auction earlier this year, and half of my basement has been opened up for a workout area. I have to slow down my box collecting at some point. They are creeping into the walking area, and I don’t need to save so many large ones.
-
06/06/2025 at 10:55 am #105765
Hi everyone. I finally got back to listing last week with a couple. A lot of life going on and big kids transitioning. I have a pop up market this weekend and a few scheduled for summer and October will round out my live season.
I have been seeing a lot of old friends and celebrating with family. Also helping a family member through some struggles.
Ebay hasn’t been rewarding me with many sales. Happy to get back on the bandwagon. I have been sourcing too but have missed many of my favorite rummage sales.
@VL congrats on the donating. I did a lot of reflection and some purging last year. Also got rid of some stuff and dug deep for the successful farm sale. There is yet another layer of unlisted, undeserving stuff. I’m thinking of having a garage sale with the objective of getting back some of my money on this old stuff. I also have been using Facebook Marketplace a bit more. I have a few items from my grandmother’s house that I plan to put on there – they have been stored for years where I could be putting some nice, listed inventory. A lot of work to be done here.
-
06/08/2025 at 7:42 pm #105772
20 new listings for me last week. 9 were from my DPs so I’m pretty happy about that.
DP listing takes a lot more effort and time than listing the items I’ve been buying to resell for the last year or so. At least I finally figured out that I should think about how long items will take to clean/repair/research/list before I buy them for resale.
Diving into the items in my DPs means taking the time to do all those things for each listing, but once I get my DPs listed I can move back to buying more of my easy to list/store/ship items. I’m looking forward to those days ahead!
Wishing everyone a productive week!
-
06/08/2025 at 8:00 pm #105773
Zero for me. We were away for half the week.
@VT – I hear what you are saying. That is one of the reasons I haven’t listed some of my DPs that were left after my auction. These were items I wasn’t willing to put in the auction, and, apparently, they are items that I’m not so willing to do the work to clean or test.
During our trip this past week, my mom brought me some books that should be easy to list. My goal is to get some of those up so I’m at least on the board plus clean or test something in my DPs.
-
06/09/2025 at 8:28 pm #105782
Zero listings for me last week. Had lots of relatives coming to help celebrate my mom’s 90th birthday this past week, and some of them can be quite, shall we say, judgey, so we made sure everything was extra spic and span and beautiful.
My sales have been sluggish because of the zero listing, so it’s back to putting in the effort this week.
Thanks everyone for your nice comments. Hope y’all have a great week. Hopefully everyone is feeling well now.
-
06/16/2025 at 12:29 pm #105795
26 listings for the week. Feels good to be back on the listing track. Been out sourcing quite a bit but keeping up on things as they come in. Have our big flea market event this weekend and prepping for that.
-
06/16/2025 at 1:25 pm #105798
20 new listings for me last week. 15 came from my death piles. I’m finally getting close to not having anything to list except DP items – I haven’t purchased any inventory in 6 weeks now. Even though it takes me more time to list DP items I’m really happy to be whittling down the piles.
Wishing everyone a great week!
-
06/16/2025 at 5:13 pm #105799
I listed one.
I set up listings for several books my mom gave me, but only one went active. I will at least have four listings for next week, but hopefully I can get to more.
-
06/19/2025 at 5:42 pm #105815
I listed about 18 new items, 5 of which sold. Definitely pricing and offering to move things. It feels good to be back listing and getting results.
@VT are you almost done with the piles? Amazing.
-
06/19/2025 at 6:10 pm #105816
ChristineR: Unfortunately barely a dent has been made so far – lol! I’m thinking for me it may become a no shopping for inventory for this entire summer situation. Which actually works out okay since due to my hubs medical treatment there are times when we’re in a lockdown type lifestyle. I can’t shop then anyway.
How did this happen? Well, I used to volunteer years ago at a thrift store that supported a pet shelter and I bought SO MANY THINGS to sell in the years I volunteered there. The amount of items coming in got away from me, I could never have listed everything I was buying at the pace I was bringing those items home. But we had a huge house back then and it didn’t look like as much as it was. My guess is that I still have at least 20 bankers boxes of unlisted items.
-
06/22/2025 at 2:36 pm #105819
Hey there, lovely ladies! Sorry for the long radio silence.
For a couple of weeks I got back into listing, making sure to do one listing per day. The tortoise principle, yeah? Then last week I took my hubby on a Birthday Road Trip and that blew me out entirely. And… I got my days wrong on my Time Away and didn’t ship an order that sold the day before TA started, so I got a late shipping ding on my record. Sigh. I did send a new pair of earrings as an apology gift, but as I have had no feedback from my buyer I guess my apology wasn’t accepted. On the other hand, no feedback is good if it would have been a neg or a neutral!
Wishing you all a great week!
-
06/23/2025 at 11:53 am #105824
I listed five items this past week. Four were from the books mentioned above, and one was from a bag of jewelry that I’m working on now.
@Amatino – Nice to hear from you. I also shipped an item a day late, but I don’t know if I got a ding or not. My career job just keeps getting in the way, plus I forgot that I had planned a USPO run after dinner. -
06/23/2025 at 12:49 pm #105825
Amatino…always great to hear from you!
Had the big flea market Saturday and was thrilled by the turn out. Sold a lot too! We’re planning another one in September, but in the meantime, gearing up for our huge event in August, a couple of trips, and just the usual stuff. 36 listings last week.
-
06/23/2025 at 1:14 pm #105826
20 new listings for me last week. 12 were from my DPs. I keep thinking I’ll get to the end of items I purchased in 2025 and I’ll be only listing DP items, but not yet! Hoping to get there soon.
-
06/25/2025 at 11:25 am #105837
@VT oh good you were making me feel bad. I think Sharon is the only one who cleared the piles then? I have at least 20 bankers boxes and quite a few totes. Still some larger family stuff that I might try on Facebook Marketplace. Really need to get that out of my storage.
I listed 16. Have been spending some time with the kiddos, my dad and my husband plus having insomnia and servicing the dog. Hope for better this week. No pop up market.
-
06/25/2025 at 12:11 pm #105838
Hey y’all can relax about the size of your DPs. Confession here…I have about 60 DP boxes in storage. Some are from the move, some are from my old brick and mortar store, but most are from me simply buying way faster than I can process and list. Have I learned from this? Probably not. But I am slowly, ever so slowly working my way through, a box at a time. My hope is to have it half gone by this time next year.
We got this.
-
06/25/2025 at 1:19 pm #105839
Oh, Christine – I didn’t mean to make you feel bad! Probably 20 bankers boxes is a hopeful underestimate for me, I keep finding more items hidden away…
Thanks VL for the encouragement! Listing just DPs isn’t nearly as enjoyable as listing my more recently acquired niche items. But like you said: We got this!
-
06/25/2025 at 8:25 pm #105841
Just to be clear, I did clear out about 90% of my death piles in my auction. However, that 10%? SSSLLLOOOWWW ….
-
06/26/2025 at 11:04 am #105845
Sorry I was just joking. 🙂
At least I have been good about not plunging into estate sales much. We have them year round, lots of older people live here. But I know I’d just get even more swamped and quickly. At least with thrifts I get only one or two items usually. The flea is limited as well unless there is an amazing clean out person – not often.
-
06/30/2025 at 1:29 pm #105853
39 listings for last week. I have been out to sales but trying to find mostly larger statement items for our Oregon City show next month…found a 1940s baby buggy, an old orange ladder, and a large wood vintage birdhouse. We also scored a bunch of free stuff at the end of an estate sale for a friend and her husband. They sold everything for their move to a little village in France. They’ve assured us they’ll have a guest bedroom! Oh, the picking possibilities there…….
-

@VL A lot of the Portland Youtubers say picking Europe is amazing.
I created 17 new listings, mainly yesterday. I listed a bunch of stuff I just bought that was a pain to list, but at least I got it done. Large banquet table linens, a large art glass platter, XL serving bowl. I did get good prices for these, but questioning myself for sure.

I didn’t list anything this past week, but I did create some drafts and took some photos. Those will all be counted next week.

06/30/2025 at 4:49 pm #105858
I managed 25 new listings. At least 20 were DP items so hurrah for that! I’m working hard on my DPs and I hope to list 25 items per week for the next 3 weeks. I’m already seeing my DPs shrinking and I think 100 listings in a month will make a big difference while I’m still not acquiring any additional inventory. July 5th will be two months since I’ve bought anything!
VL: When my hubs and I went to France I didn’t see any second hand stores, but the flea markets were amazing. I’m sure there must be second hand stores there as well but since my hubs doesn’t enjoy thrifting we didn’t make the time to search out any thrift stores there.

25 new listings for me last week. 22 were from my DPs.
Thinking of you Amatino after the Texas flooding, sending best wishes.
-
07/07/2025 at 12:56 pm #105904
3 listings for last week. We spent almost the whole week visiting relatives in Michigan. And yes, we did some picking and brought home a big suitcase full of vintage goodness!
It’s going to be really warm here this coming week so it’ll be a good time to stay inside and get some serious listing done.
-
07/07/2025 at 2:24 pm #105905
listed 15 last week. Hope for a lot more this week. Have a market on Saturday to prep for as well.
-
07/07/2025 at 5:45 pm #105910
I listed 5 items.
The past several weeks seem to be the same; list five items and sell five items. Usually, the items I sell are much less than the ones I’m listing.
-
07/14/2025 at 12:00 pm #105940
44 listings for last week. Sales have picked up too. Funny how that works.
Hope everyone is having a good summer.
-
07/14/2025 at 12:40 pm #105941
35 new listings for me last week. 25 were DP, 10 were from a new haul after I broke my no thrifting fast. I did manage two months with zero thrifting and I pretty much made it to having only DP items left to list. I’d like to do one more no-thrifting month this summer, fingers crossed!
Wishing everyone a great week!
-
07/14/2025 at 1:53 pm #105942
Two months without thrifting is great! I have been shopping a lot less, but not abstaining.
I had some nice time with friends and family last week and a fun but lackluster sales live market. Have a bigger market this Friday.
I listed only 11
-
07/14/2025 at 3:58 pm #105946
Nothing. I’ve got two drafts that are very close to being posted, but I did not work on them.
Apart from my career job getting busier by the day, it is summer, and there is too much going on. Lots of vacation planning as well.
I haven’t been thrifting at all the last few months, so I guess that’s good.
-
07/21/2025 at 8:20 am #105981
32 new listings for me last week – 25 were from my DPs. I’m still working my way through my DP boxes, sometimes it seems like I’ll never get to the bottom of them – lol!
Wishing everyone a wonderful week!
-
07/21/2025 at 12:49 pm #105982
35 listings for last week. Had an amazing time picking on Friday. More to list! Woooohooo!
Here’s our Youtube video of our picking adventure:
Hope everyone has a great week!
-
07/21/2025 at 3:40 pm #105987
I listed one item.
I do have the another one ready to go. I just need to fix some wording and then press the button, but much of my free time has been consumed by vacation planning. It’s not a bad place to be, so I’ll take it.
@Vintage-Lacy – I will save that video to watch later. I know I enjoyed one you posted previously.
@Amatino – I know you’re swamped, but we are in the second half of the year. Did you want to create a Thread #2? -
07/21/2025 at 6:16 pm #105992
I listed only 10. The kids are still home and my husband wanted to have a big pool party this weekend, so my listing time will be a bit limited but I hope to do better.
-
07/22/2025 at 1:32 pm #105995
I’ve been listening to podcast recaps of the Atomic Habits book (started it and it’s good but not feeling like sitting and reading lately). Does anyone want to do a 30 day challenge with me starting next Monday 8/22?
I’m supposed to start small and have somewhere to be accountable. Here is the perfect place! We are having a big party on Sunday so I’ll be busy with unusual stuff this week again. I’m taking a break from pop up markets so it should be a pretty good time to do it after that.
Here are the 9 step guidelines to create the new habit:
Habit: List (at least) 2 items after my second cup of morning coffee;
Steps:
1. Commit for at least 30 days – August 22- Sept 22;
2. Use a paper calendar to make a chain of Xs on successful dates;
3. Identify 3 barriers and create a plan for overcoming them;
4. Find a partner and/or post progress on a forum (here) for accountability;
5. Earn a ticket for sourcing 1 venue as reward for 2 listing days in a row;
6. Each day say I’m the type of person who is committed to a successful, consistent business;
7. Make it attractive – light a candle, keep space organized, etc.
-
07/22/2025 at 4:50 pm #105996
Hey Christine – I’m in! I was just thinking I’d love to have a listing buddy. Would the starting date for this challenge be next Monday, 7/28?
-
07/23/2025 at 5:29 pm #105997
Yes, correct!
-
07/23/2025 at 5:35 pm #105999
Cool! What do I need to do to join in?
-
07/25/2025 at 10:20 am #106004
My goal is pretty simple: to list at the same time every day a few listings. Make it a habit after I do another thing that I already reliably do each day. My problem with listing is not starting, and the advice is to start small, so I put 2 listings but really I will probably do more most days. You can set your own goal. 🙂
I’m hoping to add some other good habits and structure to my day after one of my kids moves out again. But the advice is to start with one small thing and build on it. It looks like we will still have kid 2 in the fall but I’m determined to get a better hold on my time management and make some other changes.
-
07/25/2025 at 7:21 pm #106006
Thanks for the clarification Christine!
I think I’m going to have DP listing as my goal. I’d already decided to abandon my 25 DP listings a week goal – which will show in my listing numbers this week.
There’s a lot going on with my husband’s health treatment lately and time involved in that is making 25 DP listings a week too much for me to accomplish. But I still want to work on some amount of DP listings each week until I get through them all. So I’ll be listing two DP items every weekday for my goal.
Thanks for the idea!
-
07/28/2025 at 11:30 am #106018
I was a wee bit naughty last week and bought 240 pieces of fabric. Gulp. But I will say that it motivated me into a listing banshee.
83 listings for the week.
Hope everyone has a great week ahead!
-
07/28/2025 at 12:25 pm #106021
Oh my goodness VL – 240 pieces of fabric! Did you find the fabric at a quilter estate sale? I like to buy fabric but I don’t love to list it so there’s quite a few fabrics in my DPs. However the DP fabrics I’ve already listed are selling. You’ve done a great job with getting so many listings up last week!!!
I listed 21 items last week, only 6 were DP. I’ve given up on my quest to list 25 DP items each week. It’s just been too much for me with everything else that’s been going on with my husband’s health treatments. In order not to abandon reducing my DPs all together I’ve decided to make my goal 10 DP items listed each week. Fingers crossed!
I hope everyone has a great week!
-
07/28/2025 at 1:05 pm #106022
Thanks VT! It was a woman selling her grandmother’s quilting stash. It was mostly really good quality quilt shop fabric, with a few great vintage pieces too. I paid $150 and it’s easily two thousand dollars worth of fabric. Very very motivating, and I actually like to list fabric, It’s soothing to me, for some reason.
-
07/28/2025 at 9:43 pm #106024
I listed one item.
I finally started on a bag of DP. I’m creating listings, and I should have more than one for next week.
-
07/30/2025 at 3:21 pm #106036
The good news is that I listed 22 items. Bad news is I was trying to start my new habit of listing on Monday after coffee time but I had to help my dad with some appointments and yesterday didn’t feel well. Today I will do 6 listings so I can get going tomorrow. Hang with me @VT
We throughly cleaned the house for the party and I bought on FB marketplace a wicker trunk for my computer desk area to hide the stuff I am processing from time to time. The garage is an absolute mess so I’m selling off my daughter’s apartment stuff on FB and will need to do a big sort. I have a few live markets coming up in October (fall stuff) and I’m going to try a new one in LA with my usual stuff at the end of August. My son leaves next week and we will store his car in the garage again after this big sort.
-
07/30/2025 at 3:31 pm #106037
Christine, I’m right there with you – no worries! Monday and Tuesday I had other things I had to do and today will be a zero listing day for me as well. Hoping to make up for my misses later this week.
-
07/30/2025 at 5:05 pm #106039
Make ups can’t hurt but the idea was to make a habit to list at the same time everyday. Hopefully can start with that tomorrow. I didn’t go shopping. No marks on the calendar.
-
07/30/2025 at 8:50 pm #106042
I have a pretty good listing habit, but I did want to create a habit in which I list 10 DP items every week and hopefully two per day M – F. Unfortunately life gets in the way of my best intentions sometimes. We leave home for my husband’s health treatments at 6am and the treatments last all day, so I had to create work arounds for the days I can’t be home to list.
Figuring out how to continue to list when circumstances don’t let me list every day is the name of the game for me. I can usually meet my goals, but not always in the way I intend to – I want to list every day but sometimes it’s just not possible.
-
08/04/2025 at 11:24 am #106056
26 listings for the week, all fabric from that enormous stash I bought a week ago. I’ve listed over 60 pieces from it already and it’s starting to sell.
Hope y’all have a good week. Sending you good thoughts VT for your husband’s health treatments to go well.
-
08/04/2025 at 1:19 pm #106057
Thanks VL. It’s great that your fabric haul is selling already! I just sold some fabric myself that had been in my DPs for a long time, so I’m feeling good about that.
Unfortunately me saying “I already have a good listing habit” last week completely jinxed me as far as listing and I did zero listings last week. Sigh.
At this point I’m going to have to have no eBay weekly goals for the time being. On top of my husband’s health issue I now also have a sick cat so I’m walking every day to manage my stress. But I’m spending hours every day walking. So if I get any eBay listings up that’ll be wonderful but I’m not going to set any goals for myself as I can’t handle any more stress. I’m now considering myself on Family Medical Leave.
Wishing everyone a healthy and productive week!
-
08/04/2025 at 5:55 pm #106478
I’m also at zero for the week, and I’ve got too much going on to expect anything more for this week. I do have a bunch of drafts.
@VT – sending healthy wishes to both your husband and your cat.
-
08/04/2025 at 8:01 pm #106479
Only 12 listings for me.
@VT I listed 4/7 days. It was much harder than I thought to routinely list right after am coffee. I’m going to keep with the goal of trying to create that habit. I feel like the marks on the calendar are helping me want to keep up daily listing sessions.
-
08/11/2025 at 12:44 pm #106490
Listed 23 items. Starting to list a lot of Thanksgiving items and plate sets. Look forward to shopping the Halloween, which is held back all year by the thrift stores. Halloween does really well for me but I have none unlisted.
I have not been doing well with my goal of post-coffee listing, however, I have been listing more frequently and skipping fewer days. It is helping to mark Xs on the calendar to make a chain that I don’t want to break. I try to make sure I do at least 2 listings. Last week it was just 4/7 days again though.
-
08/11/2025 at 1:29 pm #106492
20 new listings for me last week.
Great news here last week – my hubs is in remission and is done with treatment! This really helped me get back to listing, although I still didn’t manage to list any of my DP items. Unfortunately my cat is now suspected of having the same health issue as my husband, so now I’m dealing with that, but so far my cat’s diagnosis isn’t confirmed – so fingers crossed.
Wishing everyone a healthy and happy week!
-
08/11/2025 at 4:59 pm #106493
So so happy to hear that about your husband. Sending good wishes to kitty.
-
08/11/2025 at 6:56 pm #106494
Vt…thrilled to hear the great news about your husband. That’s wonderful! Sending healing thoughts to kitty.
Just got back this afternoon from a road trip to Sacramento, where we visited with great friends and went to the Antique Faire yesterday. I was actually a cautious buyer this time around because I already have had such amazing picking luck this Summer, but it was still really fun, up until it got really hot at 10am and we escaped to air conditioning. Good thing it opens at 6am!
16 listings for the week.
-
08/19/2025 at 5:45 pm #106510
40 listings for the week. I’ve been concentrating on the fabric from that enormous haul and have over half of it listed already. It’s paid off because I sold over 30 pieces just last week…19 to one buyer!
Hope everyone has a great week ahead.
-
08/19/2025 at 7:48 pm #106511
Fabric has done well for me but for some reason I don’t like listing it. At least not large chunks.
I didn’t get much listed last week since I was away most of the week. This week has been not great so far. Need to get working. Have a vintage market this Sunday in Los Angeles County this weekend and I also need to prep for that.
-
08/19/2025 at 8:47 pm #106513
I was on vacation last week! We rented an AirBnB in Saugerties, NY and spent the week hiking, going to museums, and checking out different towns.
Needless to say, zero.
-
08/20/2025 at 2:53 pm #106515
Only 8 new listings for me last week, none were DP items.
I’m hoping to do better this week – although at this point I haven’t listed anything at all in over a week. It’s super lucky that I haven’t had any zero sales days in the last 10 days, but I know that won’t continue if I don’t start listing.
Wishing everyone a good week!
-
08/25/2025 at 5:20 pm #106549
Only 3 new listings for me last week. All were DP items at least.
There were some additional health issues with my hubs and we spent several days and nights at the ER and in the hospital. He’s doing okay now, so fingers crossed that holds until he can get the surgery he needs.
I may not get tons listed this week but I’m sure I’ll do better than last week.
Wishing everyone a wonderful week!
-
08/25/2025 at 9:24 pm #106550
30 listings for me last week. We had a great day yesterday at the Oregon City Antique Faire and sold some fantastic higher ticket items, including a WWII brass mortar shell lamp, a 1950s baby buggy, several taxidermy framed creatures (the bat was the best!) and several big ticket books. It was 95 degrees when packing up, but it was worth the suffering and a good day all around.
VT I am so so sorry to hear about your husband and his health problems. Please know that I am sending you and your family many good healing thoughts.
-
08/25/2025 at 9:41 pm #106552
Yeh, I think I’ll be posting zeros for the next few weeks.
@VT – So sorry to hear about your husband’s health issues. Sending healing thoughts. Between Vintage Lacy on the West Coast and me on the East Coast, you are getting healing thought beams from both directions!
-
08/26/2025 at 8:21 pm #106554
@VT I hope things are getting better. Be sure to take good care of yourself too as the caregiver.
I was able to list 14 items. Tried a new vintage and makers only flea market in Los Angeles (San Fernando Valley). I think it’s a good one, though it got to over 100 degrees and I about died of heat stroke packing up. I had to keep getting into my car and running the air to pack after. So I won’t try it again until November. It was nice to be with so many enthusiastic vintage shoppers and I did reasonably well until noon when it got unbearably hot. I got some really nice feedback from shoppers.
I love the Fall season and I’m getting excited to do some Ebay listing. I don’t have another market for about a month. Then I have a big one on a gorgeous farm during the second week of August. @Lacy I will definitely check out your video. I saw your booth on Insta and it looked great.
-
08/26/2025 at 8:30 pm #106557
Thanks Christine! Sorry you had to suffer through the heat too. Packing up when it’s so hot is miserable but hopefully you packed up much less, like we did. I also had to do a couple of stints in the air conditioned van, just to make it through. Another thing that worked for us was dipping a rolled up bunch of paper towels in the ice water in our ice chest and draping it around our necks, as well as a spray bottle with cold water and misting ourselves. It got us through.
You always have such an attractive booth…I can see why you got such positive feedback!
-
08/27/2025 at 4:25 pm #106559
Thanks Lacy. That’s an awesome idea, but hope to avoid selling in that kind of heat again. I’m too old for that! :O
-
09/02/2025 at 1:42 pm #106880
I listed 24 items last week and created a bunch of drafts that need photos and cleaning. Unfortunately I only listed 3/7 days. I hope to make it at least 4 or 5 this week.
-
09/04/2025 at 12:54 am #106886
44 listings last week. I am working my way through DP boxes and boy am I donating a bunch. Lots of “what was I thinking?” items are going bye bye. Hope to put up another good number this week but haven’t done any listing so far.
Hope everyone has a great week ahead…sending lots of healing thoughts to VT and your family.
-
09/07/2025 at 9:01 pm #106916
I keep hitting zeros for the past few weeks. I’ve had a few vacations, and my career job is busier than ever.
-
09/08/2025 at 9:25 am #106935
8 new listings for me. I didn’t posted the week before, but I think I had 5 or so new listings then.
Thank you all for sending healing thoughts for my hubs. We had a surgery consult and as long as he continues to do okay his surgery will be put off for a month. That way he can recover more from his previous surgery and treatment before he has more surgery. It’s good to get a reprieve, and I’m trying to get back into eBay work now.
Wishing everyone a great week ahead!
-
09/08/2025 at 10:34 am #106938
I launched about 25 fresh listings and have more pictures to do. I’m letting myself go to the thrifts as the Halloween gets put out (slowly ugh) but I’ve been starting to get into the death piles and I’m caught up with summer purchases except linens. Last week I did not list that many days. I should have a better week this week.
I bought a couple of shelves and this allowed me to put my pop up market stuff away in one space, and then we got my son’s car back in the garage since he moved to Boston.
I’m feeling excited about Fall and totally into the business. I have a really fun farm market coming up in early October with a lot of cleaning, price tag removal, and prep to do.
@VT, I failed at after coffee challenge but I have improved my frequency of sitting down to list. I will keep working on it. I worked about 4/7 days on listing last week, shooting for 5 this week. It sounds like your husband is really going through it and I’m so sorry to hear that. Take good care of yourself as well.
-
09/16/2025 at 7:39 pm #106982
30 listings for the previous week and zero last week. LOTS of family drama going on around my mom and it’s just been overwhelming. Just too much. I’ll talk more about it when I get a chance to catch my breath. In the meantime, hoping you are having a good week.
-
09/17/2025 at 11:53 am #106987
VL, I’m sorry to hear about the family drama you’re going through right now. Sending hope that it resolves ASAP.
I managed 15 new listings last week. This week will be less since so far I have zero and I’m going out of town on Friday morning.
Wishing everyone a good week.
-
09/18/2025 at 1:30 pm #106993
I don’t think I’m formally in the challenge but trying to help keep the website going by participating wherever possible.
Not sure how the week runs but from Sept 10 to 17 I listed 29 items. Probably a record for me. I’ve been watching a couple “new to me” resellers on You Tube and am feeling inspired.
I’ve also been reorganizing my storage bins (condensing items to make room for more) and while doing so have found things that are not currently listed that I could swear I had listed. At this point I’m not surprised that I’ve found something but more how many items I’ve found.
-
09/19/2025 at 9:42 am #107010
I listed 20 items last week but didn’t list any more days, probably only 3/7. My sales were crap over the weekend and it’s really tough to get motivated but I’m feeling better today. I’m getting cranky waiting for Ebay to throw me a bone. In the old days, I would see sales the day after a big listing day pretty much every time. I have been putting off starting cross posting but I think I will do that this weekend. I’m running a little better discount sale since yesterday and sold a few lower dollar things.
@Jaepete who do you watch on Youtube? Btw at Ebay open in a a workshop there were two guys from the trust and safety team who were really great. They actually acknowledged audience members who mentioned missing listings and phantom listings as an issue in their own stores. I guess when they don’t want to admit things directly, the are allowed to talk about their own stores. -
09/22/2025 at 7:58 am #107025
Man I kind of blew it this week with only 9 listings made 3/7 days. I did some fun sourcing this weekend and I’m feeling super motivated to list before we leave on vacation Wednesday.
-
09/22/2025 at 9:35 am #107027
Zero listings for the week. Still way too much drama going on.
-
09/22/2025 at 1:33 pm #107031
@christine… I watched a couple from one of the Y-tubers you mentioned in your Ebay open post. Also J-Ride Flips, just started watching his. Thrift a Life (although I really don’t sell clothes) and a few others for specific content such as making a photo booth, best lights to use, etc

09/24/2025 at 2:04 pm #107058
Big life changes coming my way and I thought I would share an abbreviated version.
My brothers have decided to move my mom into an expensive nursing home in Seattle.
Charlie and I have bought commercial property in Michigan and plan to move there next April. We’ll be opening a bookshop which will sell vintage wares as well.
This will be my last Brookhaven show next month, but I have found a buyer for the show and so the show will continue beyond me.
We will continue to run all our online shops in Michigan.
We’re starting to work on the big decisions: what to move, what to sell, and what to donate.
It’s our next big adventure!
-
09/24/2025 at 3:32 pm #107059
Only 3 new listings for me last week but this week will be be better – I already have a higher listing number for this week.
VL: What exciting changes coming your way! Good luck with the decision making!
-
09/25/2025 at 12:24 pm #107067
@vintagelacy…wow! lots going on! I owned a comic book store in the late 90’s to early 2000s in Baltimore and it was one of the best times of my life. So enjoyed the store, the buying and selling and the people.
-
09/28/2025 at 2:42 pm #107070
@VL how fun to run a shop. Best of luck with all of the changes you have coming. I hope things go pretty smoothly.
-
09/28/2025 at 4:27 pm #107072
@VL – That sounds like a huge change! Good luck to you!
I just came back from yet another trip, our third in August & September, and I’ve not had time to do any listing. For the month of October, we will be replacing the tile in the kitchen/foyer, taking a week to move out furniture from the den/office, and then installing tile there. I’m guessing I will be quiet here for some time, but I do have listings started & waiting for photos. Maybe in between the craziness?
-
09/29/2025 at 2:19 pm #107073
8 new listings for me last week. It wasn’t the number I was hoping for but at least it was a higher number than the previous week.
Wishing everyone a great week!
-
09/29/2025 at 8:46 pm #107074
3 listings for the week. Brookhaven is next week, so the next few weeks will be lean on listing. Hope to get back into it more by late October. I’m excited about the changes coming…even though it will involve an enormous amount of work.
The hardest part will be moving far away from our friends. Oh, and Charlie and I have committed to NO more picking in the next 6 months. Zero. None. That’s harder than it sounds.
Hope everyone has a great week and thanks for your well-wishes!
-
10/01/2025 at 1:23 pm #107080
Ooof no picking. That is hard. I’ve been picking with Halloween and the pop up markets in mind, but seriously need to just about quit and get through some piles. I have a bad feeling about sales in 2026.
I listed on 7 last week but we were away. I’m still keeping my calendar. In September I sat down to list 13/30 days. Pretty disappointing. I tried listing after daily coffee but that was a challenge since I’m not getting up at the same time each day. Giving a lot of thought to trying a stricter schedule for myself.
-
10/02/2025 at 11:35 am #107087
Christine, no picking is kinda hard? But in some ways not really. It’s harder on my husband, especially when we pass homemade estate sale signs! We have quite the massive death pile to process before the move and there’s stuff in there from years ago, so it’s like finding new treasures.

I definitely have a hard time just working at the desk and not getting out. I need to join the gym too so maybe that will help with the no picking.

Only 13 listings for me. Big sale this week then I will be more focused again on Ebay.
@Lacey I’m also finding some nice treasures in my piles. It’s fun to put the selection together for the Fall show. I hope to get rid of some more glass and larger items. I’m selling some vintage linens this week. After the new year I need to focus on textiles. I have a ton of vintage fabric and bedding waiting in the wings.
I’ve been pretty good about shopping.

15 new listings for me. This week won’t be a good listing week for me, I’ll be out of town for most of the week.

14 new listings. Hope this week is much better now that my big market is over.

Zero new listings for me last week, but my vacation was wonderful.
Christine I was back in your area again and I looked in the local papers to see if there was a market going on there as I though I might surprise you but I didn’t see anything. We were meeting up with friends from San Diego in Santa Barbara so we were pretty busy anyway. I hope the market went well for you!
This week will be at least a bit better than zero listings for me although October is going to be a busy month outside of listing.
Wishing everyone a great week!

I listed 17 items last week. Not what I was hoping for but I was not feeling well. Starting to work on Christmas.

3 new listings for me last week. I had a very busy week with several follow up health appointments for my hubs. This week we have a house guest so I’m not expecting that I’ll get much listing done. I’m looking forward to a less busy November!
Wishing everyone a good week!

3 new listings for me again last week.
Thank goodness October is almost over, November should be a less busy month for me socially. I already have more than 3 listings for this week so I’m on the right track.
Wishing everyone a good week!

I lost my weekly number post but I think I had listed about 14 items. I did a little better listing 5/7 days. My goal is to try to list at least a few items every day, and some days I crank out 10+. Working on listing Christmas right now. Very unfortunately Halloween was a bit disappointing and I have a couple of those items I didn’t get listed. However, I have sold Halloween during the year.

I actually managed to list two items this past week.
Because of my inactivity, about a dozen drafts I had started a few months ago fell off. They shouldn’t be too difficult to recreate, but it is lost time.

10/29/2025 at 11:27 pm #107624
Hey Sharyn, you probably know this but if you just change one word in your drafts it doesn’t fall off. I usually look at what’s going to expire within a few days and just change one word in the listing so it’ll stay in my drafts instead of falling off.

Yeh, and I think I even thought about it, but never checked for how many days were left. Too much in life is going on these days.

Listed 16/31 days in October. Going to try to hard to list at least a couple of items each day. The software program is starting to end and sell similar on a few items a day for me. Luckily I can see what it’s doing because I get a prompt to promote.

Hey Christine,
If you want company on trying to list at least a couple of items each day I’ll join you for the challenge this month. My life is more manageable now and I’m up for the challenge!

yes. It sounds so easy in theory but I had a market, got sick, had some sleep issues and before you know it, it’s only half of the days. I tried at a certain time of day but that didn’t work because of family stuff and sleep issues. But sales are up and I’m motivated!

I’m pleased to report 20 new listings for me last week. For the first 2 days of November I’ve listed every day.
Wishing everyone a very productive week!

OOF. It’s been quite the ride for the past 6 weeks. My mom was moved up to Seattle last weekend. We had our final Brookhaven show EVER. We had our Holiday Faire fundraiser. It’s been a lot to process. I’ve managed to list a few things here and there, but didn’t keep track, with all the chaos. We’re putting together a pallet to ship 1800 books to Michigan. The list goes on and on.
I did start listing today again in earnest. Things are peaceful and quiet (knock wood.)
Glad everyone is doing well.

Wow you have a lot going on @VL. @VT I listed something 5/7 days this week. Have something going on healthwise but feeling mostly better now. Need to finish listing Christmas and will continue to crosspost.

I am noticing this morning that the sell similar tab is gone (at least in research). 🙁 This is just desktop but it’s still on the app.

42 new listings for me last week. Happily, 25 of those were deep DP items. My hubs was out of town for 4 days and I did a 5 day fast so I had a lot of time to just work on eBay listings. It was great!
Christine I forgot to keep track of how many days I listed but it must have been 5/7 last week.

Fought a bad cold last week so only managed 3 listings. Things are settling down now so I can concentrate on holiday sales, listings, and so forth.
Hope everyone has a great week ahead.

45 listings for the week. I really pushed myself and it worked. Best number in a long time.

@VL great job.
I signed up for an outdoor show Saturday and it’s going to be chilly (for us) and it’s 7 hours not including set up in a neighboring town. I’m really not feeling it but probably will make myself go. The last one I felt really off my game and tired. Maybe you can relate?

Thanks Christine. I can relate….burnout is a real thing in this business. I’m done with shows for at least a year, and it’s not a bad thing. However, what usually happens is that life fills up the spare time with even more projects, or at least that’s what happens to me. I do it to myself, actually.
I have this big move and new chapter in my life and I have decided to write a book about Brookhaven and the magic of vintage curated storytelling.
9 listings for the week. I’ve been concentrating on making sure I have all my ducks in a row for the big shipping days coming up.

lacy—I’d love to hear more about your book. Can you provide a bit more info?

I bailed on that long show. The weather was ok but cold for us and from the Instagram reels it looked like I didn’t miss much. I have two small ones coming up here locally in December. Might do 3 if I am sleeping ok.
Looking forward to reading your book. I know I was looking for pop up videos, set up, displays, planning kind of stuff when I first started.
