My gross sales were on eBay this week were just under $1000 with 23 items sold and 2 baseball memorabilia related highlights.
The first was this San Francisco Giants multi signed mini bat, a scavenge of the week from mid-February. $17 COGS, $32 net. With every one that sells, I’m learning more and more about how to best sell these non-cards memorabilia items. I’m happy with the quick turnaround on this sale, and will aim for about $10 more profit on items like this going forward — whether that means a lower COGS (under $10 would really be ideal) or pricing slightly higher and holding them a little longer. Since I’ve spent so much time organizing inventory and spring cleaning over the last few months, I have created a little extra inventory space. Still more cleaning to do! But also trying to acknowledge the progress I’ve made by filling up those extra shelves with cool weird items like this.
The second was this game used foul ball hit by Atlanta Braves Sean Murphy which sold for full price and the buyer’s address was c/o Topps, one of the major card manufacturers! I know enough about the industry to take a guess at what will happen to the ball once it arrives at Topps: the ball is probably going to be sliced up and little pieces inserted into a future card set, most likely the 2025 version of Topps Tribute milestones or a set like that. My COGS was $12 back in December (the original listing had a different player in the title) and my net was $42. Not the most profitable item in the world, but one of my favorite sales for the sake of the story.
What did you sell this week?

Had another item from the Macys RA experiment sell. That is going slowly. Had a couple of items sell which I had lowered the price recently on a sell similar of ending listings. https://www.ebay.com/itm/335392835458 https://www.ebay.com/itm/235533408878 I really need to make that part of my routine. Had a Mercari outlet seller flip sell for a $48 profit https://www.ebay.com/itm/235276370259. It felt like sales fell off a cliff at some point this week, but looking back they just trickled in once a day. Ebay felt quiet last week.

Sony CFD-E75 Yellow CD Cassette Player AM FM Radio Portable Boombox w/ Remote
So my profit is much higher on this through a series of events. I sold this a few weeks ago. The buyer immediately opened a return and shipped back same day. Said his wife didn’t like it like he thought she would. I had a bad feeling about this return due to the high value and rarity of the remote. When I got it back I didn’t see the remote. I withheld shipping costs and reduced the return by the lost value of not having the remote. I messaged the buyer and said I would happily refund the rest if they returned the remote. They said it was in the box wrapped up in bubble wrap. Sure enough, there it was in a wad of big bubble wrap. It was so light that I didn’t feel the weight and in so many layers I couldn’t see the remote. WHOOPS!!!
I profusely apologized and talked to ebay to try and get the refund fixed. The CSR appreciated my honesty, but they have no mechanism to amend the refund. They made a note in the system to auto approve a customer appeal and had me coach the buyer to appeal the partial refund. It went smoothly and the customer got all their money back including shipping. None of it came out of my pocket so I made an extra $40 on this item.
