Ran a batch of 285 auction listings to end last Sunday. I had exactly 50 of them sell. Evaluated the unsold listings (deleted some, repriced others) and returned them to my normal store inventory using sell similar on Monday and Tuesday. That was really all the listing I did until this weekend. I’ve been slacking a lot on listing lately. I ran a 25% off markdown sale
I had a great week of sales in the end. The auctions are a factor, and so is sell similar, and so is repricing, and so is the markdown sale. I’ve also developed a much better eye for listings which will sell quickly or sell in time. My store has gotten much smaller over the last year too. Still heavily focused on trading card listings, but I had a few oddball items sell this week, and I’m hoping for more of those in 2024.
This set of Detroit Red Wings matryoshka dolls sold at auction. My opening bid was $14.99 and the winning bid was $20. That’s a real 2023 eBay bidding war, 3 bids. More like a bidding battle. My net was $11 after shipping and my COGS was $5, purchased in April 2023 from a consignment seller who starts their auctions at $0.99 which often leads to bidding slapfights where I end up on top.
I need to package this odd 19″x19″ PSA certified signed photo of UFC fighter Bo Nickal tonight or tomorrow, probably going to make my first Frankenbox in a while. One of my favorite consignment sellers auctioned three of these in July. I remember that the auctions all ended back to back to back very late on a Tuesday night, and I won all three for $20, $30 and $35. My net on this one (before shipping) is $78, so I should net $100 if I can sell all three.
This flat rate box of trading card magnetic cases is scavenging at its finest — $46.50 after shipping for the cases I accumulate from regular buying and selling. I have another box of these to get photographed this week. I’m overdue for a big photography day.
This classical box set is the big prize of the week, $318.96 net after shipping. Buyer pulled the trigger a day or two after I set up my 25% off markdown sale. I think this was the last big item from my Chicago haul. The package is on its way to Mexico now. In a rare moment of “craig rex gets the details right,” I charged enough for shipping and had a box that fit the item well. I look forward to doing both of those things more often in 2024!
What did you sell this week?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/235087419979 This was from the big new in package linen purchase at the high volume regional thrift. I’m into profit on that haul for sure.
My other favorite sale was allegedly to a Lahaina fire victim. I deeply discounted after she reached out. It then shipped to Nevada but I like to think the better of people and wished her well. https://www.ebay.com/itm/335153485346

Some of the more interesting sales of the week, in no particular order or value:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266329018541
LEGO Minifigure Year by Year: A Visual History 2013 Book w/ 3 Minifigures
It is rare to find these books with the minifigures intact. BUT if you do, they are a BOLO.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266462722692
Ms Pac-Man Plug and Play Wireless TV Arcade 7 In 1 Game Namco Jakks Pacific 2004
Some of these old plug n play games are great BOLOs. This one is wireless and has the twisting joystick to play pole position.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266419265424
Levis Jeanswear Denim Shirt Men’s Size XL Vintage 1996 Band Collar NWT
Part of the premium hoarder collection. I did not think this would be a $100 item when I grabbed it. I love these pleasant surprise value items!
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266371148223
Polaroid 600 film camera State Farm Business edition
Special edition polaroid cameras are always a BOLO. I still regret missing one of the rarest ones that goes for $600-800. This one eases the pain a bit. Sold on offer for $60.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266534876773
LOUIS VUITTON LV Monogram Blue Denim Arizona Moccasin Boat Shoes Slip-On Sz 10
This is the item that I really wanted to get $800 for, but took a $750 offer on. Kinda hard to swing the $800 thing with a receipt sitting there clearly showing only $706 was paid originally. LOL! This shoe (with a different sole color) is readily available at the Louis Vuitton online for for $910 brand new.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266435307557
EBI Bone Healing System Model 2001 Charger
Sold on offer for $60. This was a long term death pile item. It originally came with a battery but that didn’t hold a charge. Do these things actually work – questionable. Sometimes merely thinking things work can help recovery happen, so I hope this helps the buyer!
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266408040879
PetSafe Wireless Fence Pet Containment System Adjustable Circular Range
These are definitely a BOLO. I’ve sold several over the years – always for over $100. I took an offer of $100 on this in the pursuit of the $4k week. I paid $10 at a yard sale.
