Elvira Mistress of the Dark! Cassandra Peterson, the actor who played her, is hilarious and still going strong. Apparently since she created the character she gets the royalties for all the Elvira spinoffs , unlike many iconic TV characters who don’t own the rights to their TV personas.
This reproduction “Victoria Ware Ironstone” pitcher and bowl wash basin set is not strictly a reproduction but more of a fantasy antique in that it’s not an accurate copy of any real antique English pottery. It’s a completely made up brand and pattern. The incongruous “flow blue” logo is a giveaway. These have been coming out of China since at least the 1970s and possibly earlier. A family estate item that was probably bought at a flea market 20 or 30 years ago it sold for $36 plus $24 shipping with full disclosure.
There is quite an active market in used video games. As a family we unfortunately were fans of the Wii platform when it originally came out, for which I have found there is comparatively less demand now, with some exceptions. This Jurassic Park: The Hunted Wii game out of our donation box sold for $24 with free shipping.
Among many consignment challenge coins I sell this was a good one – it’s from the USS Thunderbolt PC-12, a special operations coastal patrol boat. They are small with a crew of only 28 so there are not many original PC coins around and one of their primary missions is carrying SEALs which garners particular interest. Coins with no color enameling can be usually identified as originating pre-1990 but this one is at least circa 1994 or perhaps a bit earlier, pre-commissioning. It sold for $174 plus shipping.
Back in the day when soda came in returnable bottles there were these heavy duty bottle crates marked with various brands and local bottling companies stacked in every local store. You’d drink your soda and drop the empty in one of these crates for a trip back to the bottler and then the filled bottles would come back to the store in a crate. This one for Suburban Club from a bottler in Annapolis, Maryland is missing it’s dividers but still went for $60 plus shipping.
A family member attended the 1991 ship commissioning of the USS Arleigh Burke, a US Navy guided missile destroyer, and received this invitation that was signed by Admiral Burke and his wife. It sold for $69 plus shipping.
This is a signed print of decoy drawings. Not sure I get it, but a lady named Thelma Peterson drew the decoys that were made by Nathan F. Cobb who lived in the 19th century, and the decoys were made in Cobb Island, VA. The island must be named after him. I hardly paid anything for it, and it sold for $75.
This is a watercolor painting of a beagle dog from the same auction lot as the print above. I was able to find the artist since she belonged to some association in NY. I thought that the portrayal of the dog was a bit strange. It looked like he wanted to Netflix and chill. I made that part of the title, and it sold for $36.
I recently picked up some items from the one person I do commissions for. He told me that this 19th century book about English Law was worth about $100. In my research, I wasn’t sure I could get that much. Then I found that some pages from the back of the book were missing, so I listed it for $60. It sold within hours of listing, so maybe I was wrong?
This is an antique Noritake divided platter. I could not find anything exactly like it, but, based on somewhat similar items, I listed for $66. It also sold within hours through the GSP to Japan. And, again, it is from the same person as the book above. I hope I didn’t list both too low (whoops).
I need to look into the image hosting thing to make this more reader friendly, but for now the links will have to do.
Had some decent sales past two weeks. Sold more of my own stuff and of course my estate sale/thrift store bargains.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/193708332747 Texas Instrument financial calculator. Found this for a few dollars in a Goodwill. Thought for the money it was worth the gamble that it worked. It was in the original box with the inserts and all the manuals. Sold for $24
https://www.ebay.com/itm/193933197790 Art School handbook/guidebook. Got this in a box of books, so probably paid fifty cents. It’s from a summer art school for a particular year and has all the classes, schedules and faculty listed. Sold for $10
https://www.ebay.com/itm/194063414265 BMW vehicle battery charger. New in the box with the inserts and manuals. appeared unused. Paid real money for this at an estate sale as it seemed a sure sale with a tidy profit. Paid thirty dollars and sold for $78
https://www.ebay.com/itm/194106833238 Metal hand painted model soldiers still in the original box. Neat item, found three different sets and had to pay somewhat real money for them (fifteen dollars for this one) but these seem to sell and I figured I could at least double, hopefully triple my money. This set sold for $45
https://www.ebay.com/itm/194082801188 Set of 5 law books from the mid 80’s with a 2001 insert update. Found these at an estate sale and in fantastic condition. The home owner had been a lawyer. Got these for one dollar each and sold the set for $65. and the buyer was only about a 40min drive from my house so I messaged him and offered to drive them over the next day which he readily agreed to. I was not looking forward to shipping 5 fairly dense and heavy books.
Sold a few other books, a couple decks of playing cards new in package and some collectible comic and comic related items. Been trying to get some death pile things listed and also started using the automatic price lowering tool on some items that have been sitting for almost a year.
Also some good luck recently with sending offers. Still seems like there is only maybe a 2 out of 10 sell rate on those but it helps.
