Love the witch’s hat .. As J&R have recommended to look for ephemera and little booklets and pamphlets, I snatched up a box of old music stuff that was stored in a big box of packing materials, the box covered in spider webs and lots of ook. It was filled with old Victor Records catalogs and pamphlets and other cool items. I paid $20 for the whole box and have sold about a third of it now for over $360.
The latest sale was this, just the record sleeve … my boyfriend was shocked, he thought it should just be tossed: http://www.ebay.com/itm/112490489949
I find that ephemera always does well, and is cheap when you find it – however, I think most people just toss it!
Keep a look out for old store circulars/flyers – especially defunct local and national stores do well from the 1970’s or earlier.
I also have found luck with older “TV Magazines” – the knock-offs of TV Guide found in local newspapers – they do very well also. Even from the 1980’s these tend to sell well.
I’ve had some sales cutting up old newspapers and selling the ads from them, but found it wasn’t worth the effort as they only get about $5 to $10 each and most don’t sell.
I like the Nintendo box – I’m starting to sell obsolete electronic “peripherals” like storage cases/boxes and they are doing very well. They are usually $1 or $2 and bring in a good margin.
Lot of 15 state Tobacco Pipe Pieces
Part of the big tobacco pipe lot I bought about 2 months ago. Scraped the bottom of the box for extra pieces, generic pipes, and others that I couldn’t sell separately and this lot sold for $120 best offer. Up to about $900 in sales from the $300 lot and still have a bunch listed.
Ben Wade Free-Hand Pipe
From the same lot of above, but this was probably the nicest individual piece. Sold for $120 best offer on its own.
Vintage Vassar Infant/Toddler Crew Neck Sweatshirt
Cute little item that I actually thought would sell for more. Paid less than $1 at a bag sale. Sold for $10 on clearance after having it for like 2 years.
My sales vid for July. Hope everyone enjoys! I only had 12 sales all month, it was pretty slow for me honestly. I’m trying to get my inventory up, I’m actually at over 100 items now, lol.
Nice sales Steve, as a person who likes to sell millennial stuff, I really liked the N64 box.
Steve, re: the Keep America Beautiful trash bags for the car… I had no idea that those are supposed to go on the window crank handle! In our family we always hung those types of bags on one of the car radio knobs. Live and learn…
My parents would get a AAA bag for that purpose when I was growing up.
My 2007 Toyota minivan has a hook on the front passenger side below the console for hanging a trash bag. I haven’t seen a AAA trash bag for a while, but they may still have them. We normally use a grocery plastic bag.
Last week’s sales were great! I sold my last Vampire Tarot card sets for $90. I won’t link to it here because I’ve shown it a few times before. Here are some of the other interesting sales:
I bought a mismatched set of an older Denby pattern at my local Goodwill last year. It sells very slowly. This listing is for 4 dinner plates. Paid $2.50 and sold a little under $36. http://www.ebay.com/itm/182583218030
Earlier in July, I bought this vintage bread box at auction for $7.50 plus 15% premium. Immediately afterwards, I had buyer’s remorse because I felt I had paid too much. I decided I needed to list it at a price where I would feel good about the sale, so I put it up for $39 or best offer. Sold at full price! Now I feel good! Not sure what is so special about it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/182683657452
There is an online auction company that I buy from often. If I am bidding on an auction for certain lots I want, I will look at the other unsold or low priced lots to see if I can get something cheap. For this particular auction, I bought several lots at the beginning bid of $1 because I saw one or two items I thought looked interesting. One lot of books ended up having several vintage software packages. This is the first to sell: 1991 Sim City software, bought for pennies, sold via the GSP for $16. http://www.ebay.com/itm/182687419576
