Thanks for all the “What sells” videos. I love seeing what others keep an eye out for. I’ve been selling part time since April and things are going well, it has escalated much quicker then I expected and alot of that has to to with this podcast and the “What Sells” videos. I want to thank you all for the advice.
My user name also doubles as my Ebay store name if any are curious on what I sell or would have any suggestions.
Since this is a boot “expert” thread, I did pick a pair up at a yard sale that I cannot identify a brand. They are in excellent condition and appear to be very well made. They are size 10D, made in the USA but I do not know if they are men’s or women’s. If anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate it. Thanks.
Joshua, those look very similar to some Ariat boots I’ve sold recently. Search for Ariat Kiltie Boot. Search the Ariat website or a big western store like Sheplers or Cavenders. The embroidery makes me lean toward Women’s, but because the width is D instead of M, I’m guessing these are actually Men’s boots.
Thanks, Suzanne for your reply. I looked up Ariat, but it appears their logo is evident on all the boots I saw. I do agree these are probably men’s (though on first blush, they do resemble a women’s boot). There are model and other numbers on the tongue, but they are so hard to read clearly.
I have, yet, another shoe identification issue lol. I thought these were at first Juicy Courture due to the logo, but now I don’t think it is. Any ideas? Thanks.
We just got a message from eBay saying they “incorrectly calculated” our selling fees last month in both stores. Hoping we don’t owe too much more! Anybody else get this message?
We were off line most of the evening and when I opened up our email I saw we had gotten the email from Ebay saying they had also undercharged our account in Oct. It said we didn’t need to do anything, they would just add the missed charges into our Nov. bill
I was working on reconciling our PayPal account today and couldn’t get it to balance either. Will work on the PayPal statement more tomorrow and wait and see what the Nov. Ebay invoice looks like. mike in Atl.
I’ve only found one set of vintage cards before, and they didn’t sell for much either. I do love tarot cards though, as I’ve said before! Sales have been fairly slow. I’ve been frustrated lately about how many watchers there are on certain items and no one buying. I know I shouldn’t care, but I get obsessed with views and watchers. It’s hard for me not to check every hour or so, lol.
Don’t focus on watchers. They mean nothing in building interest in your item. Instead, it’s important to keep an eye on views. In the land of eCommerce, views are huge. You cannot have a sale without a view. The more views, the higher the probability of selling. Views also helps you in refining your listing. My recommendation is look at the # of views before you relist an item and then decide if you need to modify your listing. How many views should you have? More than zero. For a 30 day period, a rule of thumb is > 10. A more pragmatic method is to apply an appropriate conversion rate to the number of sales in your category or more definitive, your search. This is what your listing should have in # of views. Conversion rate is the number clicks (views) that turn into sales.
What I mean by this is, do a search on ebay where your item would show. Change the search to sold and BIN. Take 1.5-2.5% of the number of items sold and this the range of views your item should have. If you are greatly below the range, look at modifying your listing.
1975 McDonalds glasses: http://www.ebay.com/itm/192014633928
These have been sitting around for a while and along with a handful of other big & slow moving items I put up on auction. Sold for $20.
Easter Bunny Pez dispenser (no feet): http://www.ebay.com/itm/191867450913
This was an awesome surprise at the bottom of a box lot… had no idea it was in there. Pez without feet on the bottom are the easiest way to determine that they’re vintage vs. newer (along with where they are made and also the patent number). Had it listed for $50 and took a best offer of $30 since it’s super slow and also because it was free.
Hey guys, I just found out that Becky from Dorky Thrifters (who shared what sold videos here) lost her husband (39 years old) Tuesday night. He unexpectedly went into cardiac arrest and died. 🙁 A friend of the family started a go fund me account to help them pay for funeral expenses and living expenses. https://www.gofundme.com/aaron-palmer
If you can help by donating, that’s awesome…if you can’t, for those that are believers, I ask that you say a prayer for this young mom and her two little kids.
Thanks Steve. I love the aesthetic look of that massager. Very retro robotic. Cool.
I’ll share a couple of interesting sold items.
Framed Railroad mirror: http://www.ebay.com/itm/262567841962
Got this for a buck fifty with two other framed train prints that are still listed.
Brass Snap-on belt buckle: http://www.ebay.com/itm/262105505469
I got a small lot of about 6 various buckles from a yardsale over a year ago for about $2 each. I think I have 1 left now. Buckles are an easy ship and a fun item to sell for me.
