Lately it seems there’s more and more eBay sellers in our comment section who are trying out Etsy. Who can blame them? eBay’s been slow this summer (all retail is slow in the summer), so why not try to sell on another platform.
We’ve always said that Etsy sucked and you couldn’t make a living selling there. Our experiment selling there in 2010 was a dud. But we can also be blowhards sometimes, so why listen to us?
Ryan and Maria certainly didn’t. They contacted us while we were in NYC and told us that each has a full-time Etsy store where they make their living. What???!!!! So we checked out Ryan’s store to see what they sell. 1990’s clothes all the way. Neon. Mom jeans. Overalls. Normcore. Dude.
Anyway, we had a great conversation with them about how they scavenge, photograph, list, ship, and work together while being in total love. We hope they’re in total love because we love them.
Ask any questions in the comments and Maria/Ryan will probably stop by to answer. Or share your own experiences with Etsy.
