This week we talk about an exciting time at our favorite auction. We filled our entire car with junk and treasure for only $96. Met our new arch-nemesis who outbid us on a much wanted item. We continue to sell sell sell and wish it was like this all year (but it’s not). Don’t forget to order free USPS boxes as soon as possible because soon the holiday shipping rush will slow down box deliveries.
We received lots of interesting links and ideas from other sellers in the comments. Kate pointed us to this crazy photo gallery of a fully stocked old shoe store that was untouched for fifty years. Bryan convinced us to start charging restocking fees to cover shipping refunds. “Hollywood” Paul turned us onto the Intercept Service though USPS for when you accidentally send out the wrong package.
Ting continues to be the surprise money saver for us this year. Our combined cell phone bill for two phones has consistently been $50 a month (!!!2 phones!!!) Plus, it’s a great service. Since we get a credit every time someone signs up with our link, we know that fourteen of you have done so. I only bring it up again because Ting is now offering $100 credit if you switch by December 1. Sign up now. Or find another one of the cheaper phone services like Tracfone or Republic Wireless. Digital scavenging.
Here’s a good article about one of our favorite frugal (and now rich) comrades, Mr Money Mustache. He and his family certainly don’t live poor, but simply avoid excess, save, and invest. He figured out how to own his time which is true luxury.
This week, we’ll be doing a second podcast just for the questions that people have been sending in. You can now call (540) 407-8486 and leave a message. We think this will be fun so let us know how you really feel.
And if you need to find a present for that special Scavenger, consider these mugs.
