Scavenger Life Episode 57: What's Happening In Your eBay Store This Week?

This week Mikey and Jay do a transatlantic podcast. Jay (and Ryanne) are still in Amsterdam, while Mikey (and Wendy) are back in their desert retreat after a trip to NYC.

Jay talks about scavenging in The Netherlands while still selling with "eBay vacation settings" on and Mikey shares how they had their biggest week ever ($4689.88). Mikey had shipping problems to deal with, and Jay wants everyone to just calm down.

We're starting something new -- posting our "Weekly Scavenger Numbers". We love when people share specific selling numbers. I mean, how much money can we actually make selling junk on eBay? In the comments, go ahead and post what you've done this week. And let us know if there are other numbers you want us to share. This is where the rubber meets the road.

    1. These are amazing numbers. Almost $1200 a month. If you can maintain 500 items, I promise you'll be making at least $2000 a month.

    2. thanks for sharing your numbers!
looks like you are having quite a successful time on ebay. highest price sold, $71, that's really good. keep it up.

  2. Mikey,
Just an FYI. I was on hold (forever) with USPS and they mentioned that express international mail was guaranteed for 151 countries. Not sure if the place you sent your item is on that list but you may like to look into the USPS a bit more. Hope that helps.

  3. @Steve Yes, I spoke with them, but once the bar code is scanned there is no refund for postage. They also claimed that Israel was not covered. It was a disappointing experience for me as I had paid quite a premium in postage and insurance to get the item to the buyer quickly and USPS / let me down.

    1. i had a similar situation when sending our $1300 bakelite necklace to china. i chose International Express Mail so it would get there in 2 days. it got to china in no time, but it was held in customs for 7 days. if you read the fine print, they guarantee the time but if it gets caught in customs, they don't because it's out of their control. so how is it even guarantee-able? i'm not sure. i should have just sent it Priority International.
